I’ve been contemplating the connections between the deprofessionalization of caring/pink collar jobs, such as the k12 educators mentioned below, and extending that to pernicious erosion of status of teaching and learning staff in Canadian higher ed through #StudentsAsPartners 🧵

Excited to share my paper now out in the Canadian Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice focused on how the portrayal of police use of force in reality television contributes to broader narratives surrounding crime!

We believe in the power of STLHE to bring together practitioners and scholars, and also to influence the broader landscape of Canadian PSE. However, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done–we must critique awards systems, student representation, conferences, and more.

Along with some incredible other scholars (@tariajadi, @anita_acai, @DrPatMaher) I'm running for the STLHE Board of Directors–with a shared vision for emphasizing meaningful anti-racist action in Canadian higher education.
