Just arrived in British Columbia 🇨🇦 with 15 EU Heads of Mission for a 3 day visit with key political and business leaders to explore new opportunities for EU–BC cooperation.

Russia planned to take Kyiv in 3 days. Four years on: no strategic objectives achieved, an economy in decline, and over 1 million casualties.

Tonight, we celebrated Europe Day and 50 years of the European Union Delegation to Canada, a partnership that keeps getting stronger. And what better way to celebrate than singing O Canada all together? Thanks to Ambassador Tuts and the diplomatic corps for inviting me to join in!🇨🇦🇪🇺

The relationship between Canada and Europe is only getting stronger. Canada’s participation to the European Political Community meeting says it all. From trade to critical raw materials and defence - our cooperation and Strategic Partnership is expanding fast and going from strength to strength. I also want to thank you for Canada’s support for Ukraine and our joint work to bring abducted children back home.

Always a pleasure to meet 🇨🇦 PM @MarkJCarney, a friend and key ally of Europe. The presence of Canada at the European Political Community Summit — our first non-European guest ever — demonstrates our closeness and alignment. Canada and the EU are standing firm together on the defence of the rules-based international order and multilateralism. We are determined to continue deepening our strategic partnership. Great to count on friends like Canada!

Excellent meeting with the Prime Minister of Canada @MarkJCarney in the margins of the EPC in Yerevan. As close allies and like-minded partners that share common values and so much more, we had a very good discussion on European and Canadian priorities including defence, trade and Artificial Intelligence. We will keep building on this momentum in the months ahead 🇪🇺🇨🇦

Together with @NikolPashinyan, I have invited @MarkJCarney to participate as a guest in the next Summit of the European Political Community, in Yerevan.  It is the first time a non-European country takes part in the EPC.  Europe and Canada are more than just like-minded partners - together we are building a global alliance to defend peace, shared prosperity and multilateralism.

40 years after the Chornobyl disaster, its consequences are still felt across Europe. Today, Russia’s actions in Ukraine are putting nuclear safety at risk. There is now momentum to revisit a range of long-blocked decisions. EU leaders are also pushing to move ahead with a 21st sanctions package against Russia. @EUinCanada was pleased to welcome Commissioner Albuquerque for Financial Services and the Savings and Investments Union on her official visit to Ottawa (20–21 April). She met with Canadian financial authorities explore how 🇪🇺🇨🇦 can learn from each other and deepen cooperation.
