This is stunning. To solve a problem that didn’t exist (a nuclear weapons program which US intelligence confirmed has not existed since 2003) in search of an outcome that air power alone could not accomplish (the military defeat of a country as big as much of western Europe), we have squandered the blood of hundreds of Americans (including 13 dead), the loss of 16 military bases, the destruction of scores of aircraft and billions of dollars worth of high-tech radar systems, and laid the foundation for likely global recession and possibly depression. And we are shelling out $1.5 billion PER DAY to continue deepening our failure. That is a profound casualty and loss statement for a war of choice that was obviously doomed to fail before it started.
Stephen Semler@stephensemler

The US has spent an estimated $71.8 billion on the Iran War, or $1.2 billion per day on average.

Lol "people like you". What a cop out. You can't find anything on me "denying Epstein conspiracy" so you associate me with people you do. What an intellectually lazy argument. Also no crumbs. Anyone that believes consumers would get skidish after $5/gas prices should look at DoorDash and Uber Eats reports. These businesses exist because of consumer disposable income. If the consumer was going to be crushed by higher gas prices, we would see it in food and grocery delivery. The average consumer spends $130 per month on food delivery and $300 per month on grocery, with 30-50% of the average ticket in mark up and fees. $60-70/month in higher gas prices is not going to scare off consumers.

a masters degree means one thing and one thing only: you had no clue what to do after your bachelor so you just prolonged studying degrees have inflated to the point where they are worthless unless you went to an ivy league, in which case it merely signals that you are conscientious and smart enough even a phd is useless. i know so many girls who got phds merely bc they had no plan for how to enter the workforce, so they came up with a totally boring and ultra niche "thesis" and then proceeded to drag themselves through pointless research for years this was all true before ai, now i really don’t know what they teach you at university the main purpose of university was to have a jolly good time with your mates and to get fuqed up on drugs and have intercourse with girls not bad tbh

Everyone is comparing this to GTA5 released almost 13 years ago, not taking into account what a radically healthier market it was for AAA studios back then. Less than 30 million people even own a PS5, meaning half of them have to buy the game at $80 per unit just to break even.

This game is going to bankrupt Rockstar. It has to sell roughly 13 million copies (at $80/each) just to break even. The rising cost in computer hardware has shrunk the potential market of those who even have the necessary specs to play it, and the writing is probably garbage.

I worked at Burger King in the late '90s with total shitkicking rednecks, I'm talking about guys with confederate flag bumper stickers who rigged their truck horns to play Dixie (seriously). And nobody would have DREAMED of calling someone the n-word to their face. Not once did I see this in four years. Behind closed doors, yes they were telling n-word jokes *in the abstract.* But never, ever, in four years did I hear someone call a specific person the n-word. They probably would have tried to start something with you if you did (the hicklib phenomenon is not new). These were guys who drank MD 20/20 and Sprite all through their shift, who had sex in the disgusting crew bathroom with the most ratchet-ass hoes you can imagine, who stole cases of chicken nuggets for their house parties. One guy actually went to jail for murdering his friend who'd had sex with his gf. Not exactly upstanding members of society. So idk if David is lying here or if his kid lied to him but consider me skeptical that this sort of thing is happening regularly(!) in a tony suburb in 2026.

The worst part is we are in the home of jazz and hip hop, and we do not yet have a WC song. We should have a WC album by now. Everything from Bruno Mars to Taylor Swift, Jay Z to Glasper, Carpenter to Imagine Dragons should be drafted to create the GOAT WC album. They have the power to feature Rose and Bad Bunny, even, to make it truly global and demonstrate their melting pot soft power. But alas, America is no longer the coolest superpower.

So much of America's dark history is because of white supremacy, and not enough people are willing to acknowledge that. Currently, the PRESIDENT is trying to erase history and ban museums from teaching about slavery. They don't want to acknowledge the awful things our country has done, so instead, they want to try to erase them. Acknowledging America's dark history is how we grow and change things. We should not be scared to acknowledge the past, even if it's awful.

MAGA: "Inflation was worse under Biden!" Whoa there, Chud. Put down the Ivermectin snooters and let's back up. Let's back ALL the way up to that economics class you slept through in 12th grade. Do you know what inflation is? Inflation is quite literally an increase in the supply of money. The more money you print, the less money itself is worth. That means you'll need ever-increasing amounts of money to buy the same stuff that was cheaper before. THAT is inflation. Wanna know how all that extra money got injected into the economy? I'll give you a hint. It's orange and rhymes with pedophile. Trump printed 25% of all US dollars in existence during his first term. He increased the supply of money dramatically. Remember the PPP and EIDL loans? The corporate bailouts? The pandemic unemployment? Remember the checks Trump sent out, the ones where he insisted that his fat greasy name be printed on them? The MF literally handed out $8 trillion that didn't exist before. That money had to be created. That had real consequences! There was a 6-12 month uptake lag between Trump printing the money and it showing up in inflation at the grocery store. But Biden didn't cause that mess, Trump did. In fact, the Biden Administration did everything it could to slow inflation. The Fed raised interest rates and Biden let Covid bailout programs end. Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," which he championed in his second term, and which he signed into law, actually increases deficit spending AGAIN. You think food, fuel, and housing prices are high now? Brother, your pain has only *just started.* It's about to get so much worse.

Can anyone honestly say that the current movement of America hasn't been to disenfranchise black people? Affirmative action, gone. DEI considerations, gone. Black military leadership, gone. Black women in government jobs, gone. Black History, erased. Voting rights, suppressed. Civil Rights, gone. Even the MAGA tap dancers are being removed. One thing for sure is that we are currently moonwalking back in time to a time that "Makes America Great Again" for some people. It's no longer a hidden agenda. The question is, why are we heading in this direction? What's the benefit?

🚨ECONOMICS FACT CHECK: -8 of the 10 poorest states in the US are controlled by Republicans. -10 of the last 11 recessions started under Republican Presidents. -The only 3 Presidents to lower the deficit in the last 50 years were all Dems: Clinton, Obama, Biden. -6 out of 7 Presidents with the highest job creation rates since 1945 were Democrats. -GDP growth under Republican Presidents averages just 2.5% but a whopping 4.3% under Democrats. FACT: REPUBLICAN TRICKLE DOWN HURTS THE ECONOMY. P.S. MAGA don’t even think about gaslighting me. I know the data and facts and you really don’t. You failed. Try again. Florida voters banned partisan gerrymandering. House Republicans voted against pausing to read the Callais ruling before passing their map. The map was drawn by one DeSantis staffer who admitted using partisan data. Public process: map released Monday, hearings Tuesday, both chambers voted Wednesday. Davis on the floor: "Before it was presented to the legislature, it was presented on Fox News. As if our process did not matter." Nixon on the floor with a bullhorn: "This is a violation of the Constitution." DeSantis will sign it.

The ABG ("Asian Baby Girl") phenomenon is an obvious downstream result of prole drift in American culture partially caused by the proliferation of 2010s low-vibration rap music. Won’t deny that some 90s and 00s rap had heart, but 2010s rap was mostly low-consciousness slop. Low energy mumble rap from the likes of Future and Migos couldn't be avoided. Even before I became spiritual, I always hated this stuff and could feel my energy drop every time its soundwaves entered my ears. Music is mental AND emotional (and hence, spiritual) programming. Our souls receive music as input, whether we are conscious of it or not, and are altered as a result - vibrations entering you physically, words going into your mind, and energy affecting your emotions (emotion: energy in motion). This is something the late Scott Adams nailed as he warned to be wary of the kind of music you allow into your life. Listen to too many sadboi songs? You're more likely going to be a simp. Death metal? More likely to have anger issues. Now, I'm not trying to write off *all* rap music. The 00s hip hop songs that alternated between chorus singing and rapping were much more optimistic and celebratory that made me naturally bop my head or want to dance (Kanye's Good Life, Alicia Keys Empire State of Mind, Jay Z's Run this Town, just sharing a few examples to refresh folks' memory). Obviously, some tracks promoted casual sex or da gangsta life, but others promoted resilience, confidence, community, social activism. Completely different vibes. PS: Notice how after USAID funding dried up.. rap disappeared from top 50 list? This is not simply due to music genres rotating in and out of popularity. I refuse to believe that mumble rap's reception last decade was organic. It's depressing to listen to most of that stuff. Most people don't gravitate towards materials that make them sad.

The War Powers Act 60-day clock expires today on U.S. military operations in Iran. Sec. Hegseth says the clock is "paused" due to a ceasefire, but that language doesn't exist in the law. Congress now has three choices: 1) Vote to authorize the war. 2) Watch withdrawal begin tomorrow. 3) Do nothing and confirm what has been creeping true for decades: Congress has voluntarily surrendered the war power to the executive. Permanently. This isn't partisan. It's the law passed in 1973 specifically to prevent this moment after painful experiences in Korea and Vietnam.

You just told an atmospheric scientist to 'study rate of change' …while using linear math on an accelerating trend. Your own numbers prove my point: 1.7 inches per decade became 3.3 inches. That's called acceleration. You can't linearly extrapolate a non-linear system. That's not climate science. That's not even basic math. NOAA accounts for ice sheet dynamics and thermal expansion. You accounted for neither. 45 elections. Zero physics.
John Huppenthal@HuppenthalJohn

"18 inches" Hmmm...extremely unlikely. Study rate of change. Based on the last decade of 1.7 inches (NOAA) and last two decades of 3.3 inches, 2055 will see somewhere between 5 inches and 8.2 inches of rise. Based on the value of shoreline real estate, less than .01% of US gdp for that period of time. Totally insignificant.
