When viewing content in any form, ask urself: Does it provoke an emotional response? Does it make a bold statement on a controversial issue? Is it an extraordinary claim? Does it contain clickbait? Does it use small pieces of valid information that are exaggerated or distorted?

And also, these are not butter and honestly, they’ve not claimed to be. However, a lot of Nigerians don’t know this. The average Nigerian doesn’t know what real butter tastes like.

@gamerwalt May the Balm of Gilead heal you! I have observed that a lot of these medications are subsidized outside the developed countries. The injection might cost like a third or fourth of the price you quoted in Nigeria (that’s still high for the average citizen)

I take a monthly injection. Was advised by my Specialist Doctor. That injection costs approximately $4,000 monthly. If not because of the insurance of my workplace plus that of my wife, I will be shelling out that money by myself monthly. Every month when I take it, in the evening, I just get so tired and down. With headaches. It's the symptoms of that injection and I have to administer it myself. Guys, take care of yourself. As for me, we take the injection and just enjoy life jare.

@gamerwalt Interesting. I thought the Landlord insurance would cover for this? Was there a proven case of negligence against the tenant?

I knew a guy briefly in Winnipeg. We were both renting then. When I went to get my tenant's insurance, he was laughing at me saying how can I pay money every month and nothing will come out of it. I explained the process to him and he said no way he was going to do it. Fast forward 4 years later, he had an issue with his stove and it ended up burning the apartment and one other adjacent apartment and being on the hook for a huge sum of money. He's in a bind now and I haven't heard from him in a while. Someone told me he keeps changing his number because of lawyers calling him all the time. Financial life sentence.

It is cheaper to fly London to Morocco and get a haircut than to cut your hair in London. This video is hilarious 😂 😂 😂 By the way, This is a London to Morocco flight for a mere £15. Can you guess how much Lagos to Abuja flight is? APC must die se.

A colleague of mine has been in Brampton for 3 years. Her husband is still in Lagos, waiting on his visa. She wakes at 6, drops two kids at daycare, does a full shift, picks them up, cooks dinner, bathes them, helps with homework, reads them to sleep. Then she calls Lagos. He gets maybe 15 minutes before her eyes close. Anyone else living that split life right now?

@msmocrown Ha! Some personal sacrifices will be needed. What I don’t want them losing is the citizenship. She has to think long term and see how to make this work in his absence (I assume they’re PR holders)

Advice needed 🙏 "My husband is feeling trapped with paying bills alone without anything left to save and build up for future in Canada. He wants to leave me and the children in the country to move back to Nigeria. What should I do?"

Respectfully, the headline “electricity is now more expensive in Nigeria than in the US” is misleading. Official grid tariffs are still far lower than US rates when the power actually flows. The ₦430k includes private diesel because of outages, that’s a supply problem, not a price problem. The fair comparison would be grid-only vs grid-only, or full reliable service vs full reliable service. Nigeria’s challenge is delivering consistent power, not charging more per kWh. The diesel cost is real, but it’s the symptom, not proof that power is universally more expensive.

Did you know that electricity is now more expensive in Nigeria than in most parts of the US? I live in a four-room duplex, and I pay $270 (₦375,000) each month for electricity and water. My friend in Nigeria, who lives in a house of exactly the same size, spends ₦430,000 every month on electricity charges and diesel.

@MudiTheInvestor Agreed. We almost always ignore the concept of “opportunity costs” when having these discussions. The potential gain lost from the alternative not chosen is real and shouldn’t be ignored

While I understand your point about financing, I believe that if the APR is lower than the average annual return of the S&P 500, it creates a compelling arbitrage opportunity. For example, suppose you’re looking to buy a car priced at $15,000. You have two options: pay cash upfront or finance it at 2–3% over five years. In this case, the math is hard to ignore. Historically, the S&P 500 has delivered an average annual return of about 10%. If you finance the car at 3% and keep that $15,000 invested, you’re effectively capturing a 7% spread. So instead of locking in a 0% return by paying cash, you allow your capital to stay invested and compound over time. As long as market returns outpace the cost of borrowing, your net worth grows faster by choosing to finance.
Nurseinvestor@abalu_uthman

This car finance discussion is like the discussion between paying off your mortgage or investing the money. There are nuances to these discussions and it’s definitely going to be an individual decision. No one size fits all. It’s all maths, just run the numbers and do what works for you. If I can get 0% APR I am team finance but anything outside that, I’m team outright payment.

@MudiTheInvestor Ok. I think I understand. If I can sell a stock again on the date of trade, then it makes sense. So date of trade for qualification it is!

Quick question 👇 If you buy GTCO on Monday, April 13, 2026, the dividend qualification date, will you still be eligible for the dividend? Let’s clear this confusion once and for all.

@dejiogundiran @DrJoeAbah @cremechic11 Hmmmm. I don’t think this is correct ooo. Both accounts (chequing and savings) can be linked to your card (except you request that the savings be delinked). When you have both, you have to specify where you want the funds taken from

@DrJoeAbah @cremechic11 In some countries ( I know of Canada) your current account is your only or default spending account and that’s what’s linked to your ‘debit’ card, your savings is for saving money, hence no need to prompt savings or current. Credit cards are their own accounts too …

Please what is the purpose of distinguishing between Savings and Current accounts when you use a POS in Nigeria? I have never needed to do so in any other country.

@MudiTheInvestor Only if the trade settles (ownership fully transferred) on April 13. Going by the T+2 settlement timeline I will say you won’t qualify if you buy on April 13th
