@JakePaynting and you’re probably going to need all the speed and athleticism you can get to keep up with the spurs/thunder backcourts for the foreseeable future

@farming_bro Yeah that’s the theoretical blueprint isn’t it. Just juice up their downhill scoring/playmaking to a point where they’ve never had it next to Ant before.

I’m not overly into the Ja stuff but I do think the Wolves are gonna have to take a risk somewhere. Star hunting means giving up meaningful depth+picks, depressed asset hunting is a failure risk, prioritizing picks/retool is a step back and dangerous. Gotta pick a risky lane

@PDWolves i think it’s probably more of a bet on the fact that there’s no iteration of this current roster that will be able to compete with OKC/SAS given the time and resource constraints

The Rudy trade was a bet on Anthony Edwards quickly becoming a star player. A Giannis trade would be a hedge bet against Ant becoming an MVP-level superstar.

The problem I have with Finch is we lost by 20+ all series and he never tried to see what Bones, Clark or Beringer can do so now we’re back to guessing.

@HPbasketball there’s just so much revisionist history going on. they traded for rudy because they couldn’t get a rebound against MEM in 22. everybody questioned KAT as the #2 option after the 24 WCF. they outlasted all of the dominant west teams of the early 20’s but nobody saw OKC/SAS coming

I really hate how when a team loses we relitigate everything. The Wolves gave up a bunch of picks for Rudy and he had a bad Game 6 against a better team. They traded KAT because of the CBA for Randle and he had a bad series. They made two WCFs and got to the second round, for a team that has been a historical joke since KG in 2004, TWENTY years ago. They built a good team, they couldn't get it to put it together. It doesn't mean it wasn't worth it.

@HPbasketball It's not that it's not worth it, but given you had a bona fide superstar in Ant, it feels like a waste to cash in draft capital + KAT for a team that, barring a miraculous addition, will likely never be close to a title and never really was expected to be

@JakePaynting unfortunately ja is the most obvious no brainer choice for a team that’s desperate for ball handling and play making on offense. let’s just hope giannis forcing his way to minnesota cheapens his value

Not sold the Wolves have the assets to pull off the Giannis/Kawhi/Kyrie level of deal (hope they do), so rank this slightly depressing group for me in order of Wolves fit: Ja Zion Jalen Green MPJ Herro Turner DJ Murray Suggs Quickley Jrue

@PetersenFarms Thanks for the reply. It’d be cool to see a video of how your freshener is set up sometime.

@farming_bro Original Yetter strip freshener with some mods/add ons. Fall got an RZB pass to clear residue where the strip was to be made and apply Potash/Pel Gyp. Planter carries liquid N-P-S

Literally happens to the champ every year these days After the Wolves beat OKC in that game some dumb stat circulated about how no one had ever lost by 40 in the playoffs and won the title, even though Boston dropped a game by 38 the year prior en route to a ring
sp@PerryScott6770

@JaceFrederick Announcers said no team that wins the championship gets outplayed thoroughly like this. Guess they forgot that OKC won last year even though they were down like 40 to the wolves in game 3 last year.

This is a really complicated topic because of the opportunity cost. Rudy has given Minnesota everything they could've hoped for. This is the most successful sustained period in franchise history, and he's the second-most important player to that success behind Anthony Edwards. It's also reasonable to suggest that they paid a championship or bust price. I think they had a championship ceiling in 2024. Didn't feel like they did in 2025 or 2026, and Rudy's getting older. If this team does age out, you have Ant/McDaniels in their primes without the assets to build around them. Rudy did his part. It's also fair I think to say, "hey, having Ant, Jaden, Walker Kessler, Naz and KAT plus financial flexibility and all of the picks we'd need to let Ant recruit whoever else" probably yields a higher ceiling. Maybe you don't want to risk waiting on the higher ceiling guy in that market. Rudy was happy to be in Minnesota. Lots of tricky calculus there. Ultimately I'd land on "the trade has justified itself" without the trade automatically having been the right move.

Rudy Gobert deserves an apology. In 2022, when the Minnesota Timberwolves got him for 4 first round picks and 5 players, everyone called it a massive overpay. But having an elite defensive anchor in the paint has paid off big time. The Wolves went to back-to-back Western Conference Finals, and now, no one's doubting Rudy. In their playoff series against the 3rd-seeded Nuggets, Gobert came up huge. Nikola Jokic entered the playoffs averaging a triple-double in the regular season, and putting up MVP-level numbers. But in the playoffs, Jokic had trouble against Gobert all series long. He shot just 44.6% in the series - far below his season average of 56.9%. Jokic looked just a shell of himself, and is now sent home for the summer all because of the Stifle Tower. Put some respect on Rudy Gobert's name. He turns 34 this summer, but the 4-time DPOY is still wreaking havoc 😤
