I think we need to be better at communicating why simple solutions like this are unlikely to enact the sweeping changes people want.

Hot Take: Rage is the reason rap is in the horrible spot it’s currently in I love Carti, and he obviously inspired this whole entire “era” of rap with WLR. He’s not the issue. It’s everyone who are literally straight clones of him, take his style, and make it genuinely unlistenable to the general public. The difference between rappers in that 2015-2019 era who all came up is YOU CAN PLAY THEIR MUSIC IN PUBLIC. It’s catchy. Their songs had a chorus you could repeat. Older people might have not liked it, but it was still consumable and listenable. This is not the case with the current underground. It’s all just distorted noises to most people without “trained ears,” and I say this as someone that enjoys all types of this music. But XQC is right, this genre will never go anywhere or chart the same way rap used to 🤷‍♂️

They had some good songs here and there but man they were inconsistent af. Some of the songs were genuinely just bad.
