@josh_dejoy10 @WreckEmMatt Ok I’m sorry. Duke vs Kansas or St. John’s next week. Michigan st vs UConn. Sean miller could play against Arizona. There’s plenty of good storylines you just refuse to look

@fbrooster @WreckEmMatt It’s actually the opposite. As someone who’s watched the great season we’ve had all year, it’s disappointing to see the majority of games lack competitiveness. While a few games have been incredible, there are no strong storylines so far moving into the sweet sixteen

I think people just like to complain. I can’t even imagine watching Vandy / Nebraska High Point / Arkansas VCU / UNC UConn vs Furman Santa Clara / Kentucky Utah State / Villanova Duke / Siena High Point / Wisconsin Etc and thinking this tournament sucks

Wild that the best current player on Louisville was playing for Josh Schertz and alongside Robbie Avilla two years ago. Imagine this SLU team with Ryan Conwell.

@615__Russ Also…. The odds of all 1-4 seeds advancing to the S16 are basically zero. There will be upsets now

The pre-tournament odds proclaimed three upsets; we got exactly three upsets. Extremely unfortunate, but the good news: just a 14% chance all of the 1 & 2 seeds make it to the Sweet Sixteen unscathed.

Good news: this year’s 1 seeds aren’t as far away from the rest of the field as 2025. Bad news: the gap between 1-5s and 12-16s is the largest in at least 25 years. Another upset-light NCAA Tournament appears likely. For @basket_review: basketunderreview.com/a-historical-a…

@fbrooster @DanWolken You do realize long before Xavier/Dayton joined the A10 - schools like Villanova Rutgers Pitt West Va all were in the A10 too and the conference survived - its nothing new

We are still in a very small sample size. There have been near-misses that would significantly change the narrative. It could be portal/NIL, but I think we need deeper analysis and we probably should be talking more about how conference realignment weakened mid majors.
Jeff Borzello@jeffborzello

Not only are there just four double-digit seeds left, not only did all favorites win yesterday, the games haven’t been particularly close. Per ESPN Research, the average margin of victory in the first round was 17.4 points, the highest since the tournament expanded in 1985.

@DanWolken Its still about the lack of NCAA tournament money flowing into the mid majors - the A10 once had 6 teams in the NCAA and always had 3 or more - helping all members compete - that has ended - all that money up to the P5 - THATS the issue . A10 teams change for 40yrs

When you have to pick 36 at large caliber teams you are going to have to pick a couple of teams that stink and they are going to have to play each other. This year those teams are just so happened to be named Texas and NC State.

@fbrooster @PeteThamel Per Claude: The First Four games averaged roughly 1.8–2 million viewers per game in 2025. Meanwhile: First/Second round games averaged 9.4 million per game — about 4-5x more. Not enough shine.

Big night for the conference offices at the MEAC (Howard) and America East (UMBC) tonight and SWAC (Prairie View A&M) and Patriot League (Lehigh) tomorrow. Winners get an additional $2.1 million, as the unit value is expected to be approximately $355,000 annually for 6 years.

@PeteThamel If you win your conference tournament, you should not be in the play in games. Let the power conference bubble babies duke it out for two 11 seeds and two 12 seeds. Let these kids get their one shining moment.
