Correction: The first female FAS president was Pam Spence in 1995. Current FAS council memories did not go back that far! We are happy to correct the record.

We proud to announce the election of Clare Lauwerys as its new president, marking a historic moment as she becomes our first female president. Clare has served as FAS VP president for the past 2 years. She is also secretary of @NorthEssexAstro & is a dedicated STEM ambassador.

And we've just noticed the typo in that last post. Clearly we were too keen to get the news out and at least we spelt Clare's name correctly!
