Melbourne City goalkeeper and Socceroo Patrick Beach is among the top 100 highest-valued U23 GKs, per @CIES_Football's statistical model.
22yo Beach - contracted to @MelbourneCity until 2028 - has an estimated transfer value of €1.7m ($2.8m).

@vline_geelong Folks, would be hugely useful to morning commuters to tell them the line is now running again.

@M1D3V You'll not see City Matt. We're shot after last night. We'll not get past Auckland. Not good enough in terms of tactics or depth. Finish third and get a home run maybe, but not away to Auckland or Adelaide. Our season ended in the 79th minute last night.
English

This is probably the one finals series where you could say anyone could win it..
Not the cliche 'you got to be in it to win it' like every team has credentials to go the whole way, and you could also see all six teams bailing out before the Grand Final.
Adelaide was the team i wanted the most, after last night i'm happy we will avoid them until a possible grand final.
Auckland are a well drilled team, but they've been very hot and cold lately. (3 points in last five games)
Victory are always dangerous come finals time, and a team we obviously have lost to on the big occasion
Sydney look to be the 'weakest link' at the moment, but like Victory, they are always dangerous come finals time... but i feel lack cohesion at the moment
And City, the one team i'd like to not face, i feel like they have every right to like their chances (despite last night) someone has to shut down Younis
Overall, the next seven games is going to be bums on seats stuff... hopefully the viewers and attendees get a cinematic experience!

@aleaguemen Perhaps if the referee had done his job for most of the rest of the match instead of being arbitrary and inconsistent? But I'm just a spectator, what would I know...
English

@ForeverMelbCity Given most of this woeful season, we were lucky to finish where we did. Despite the woeful refereeing and Adelaide play acting, we simply weren't good enough, particularly after the subs. Wong in particular was a poor choice for a physical midfield battle.

From the replays that’s pretty bang on from Alex King
Anselmo borderline red but whatever

@shivmalik Not just Europe. Canada, Australia and New Zealand saw there were enough Americans willing to vote for him twice, and concluded we had far less in common with the US than we thought. Not allies we can trust ever again.
English

The headline says that the costs of Trump’s tantrums are “starting to show”. I don’t think Americans get that for Europeans, the Greenland debacle changed everything. It’s over. No one can trust the US. It’s not because of Trump. It’s because we know your system can’t/ won’t stop him or the next guy after him. And also that there’s enough of you who think it would be ‘cool’ to invade just to rub it in our faces. That’s a good enough reason to never trust you again and make everything far more transactional.
Fareed Zakaria@FareedZakaria
In the United States, President Trump’s periodic insults hurled toward allies get treated as routine tantrums. But in those countries, the accumulation of abuse has reached a tipping point. My latest column: washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/…

@AshPolitik Yes, about where I am. Two months ago would have been in the tax now camp, but right now our cheap gas is the lever that's keeping us supplied with liquid fuels from our Asian neighbours.
English

Im all for the #GasTax, but Labor is looking like delaying that fight.
Real world issue is that our gas goes to the countries that are providing us oil supply during Trumps war in Iran.
Tale of two competing points.
The right time for a gas tax due to massive windfall profits
The wrong time due to global energy shock.

@Craig_Foster It was the 1978 world cup that awakened my youthful interest in football. A few years later I became a terrace regular and tragic fan. But I don't want to know about this World Cup. It's been ruined by evil bastards.
English

While there is discretion, surely if an Asian AFC country withdraws, the next best Asian team should be the beneficiary.
What should not happen, under any circumstances, is a US envoy in any way influencing the selection of the entrant, for purely political reasons to add to the already overt influence exerted over FIFA and the event by the Trump administration.
A bed that Infantino has made for himself, and in which the game now lies.

English

@DeclanArcher3 Agreed, will be there. Hope we play better than at Coopers! Was also there for that one and it was a hard watch.
English

@fensaddler Yeah no walk in the park for sure. But still great to be in with a chance considering where we were just a few weeks back!
English

City need to beat Adelaide along with Sydney not beating Auckland to be back in the ACL.
4 weeks ago we weren’t making finals. Mental.
Paul Williams@PaulWilliams_85
Australia will gain an additional preliminary round spot in ACL Elite under the proposed changes to the slot allocations for AFC club competitions. It will mean Australia has three clubs participating in continental competitions each year.

@RpsAgainstTrump And from a low base too. He's always been a moron.
English

@ALeaguedeals I don't go for rivalries and aggro. I actively avoid it. I go to watch my team play well and spend time with a bunch of mates.
English

Rosich says he is working with clubs to arrest a stall in attendance growth, as they build next season’s draw around major rivalries in key time slots at tier one venues.

@JaneCaro I was in my local Myer yesterday. The staff member who served us started talking to us. We knew who we were talking about without even mentioning the name. Complete strangers share the despair. We're in Victoria.
English

I’m in NSW, and hate Trump. I reckon most Victorians do too.
Harris Sultan@TheHarrisSultan
I'm in VIC. Australians love Trump!

@aleaguemen The F3 derby is a dead rubber. The two key matches are on Sunday. They have implications for top six final positions, including top 2 and home finals. And City's match kicks off at 5.30.
English

@M1D3V Congratulations Matt. Delighted for the Jets and their fans. Won playing good football.
English

@josephesposito_ Nothing against Brisbane fans who have had a long run of poor seasons. But your team this season has been grim, joyless and cynical. No fun to watch and the antithesis of the beautiful game. I never want to see that succeed. Delighted for Newcastle who have done it right.
English

@M1D3V Turned into a good game in the second half. Even grim Brisbane scored a belter.
