@twostraws Depressing that voting turnout was less than 60% where I live 😢

There’s still lots of time! Polling stations close at 10pm, and every vote in every seat counts. If you’re under 30 you’re the group that’s least likely to vote, but please make your voice heard – vote for what you care about, and ignore folks telling you it’s a “wasted vote.”

🇬🇧 People of the UK: Today is election day, and I hope you cast your vote. Ignore the fear mongering around supermajorities, and forget about so-called safe seats, because every vote counts! Make your voice heard, no matter who it’s for 🗳️ #GeneralElection24

@DavidBuckell @MartinSLewis I had the same O2 attempt but on the message, it says to not provide it to any person including O2 member of staff so I wished him a good day and hung up.

@MartinSLewis O2 one came close to catching me out. Somehow knew I had only just signed up & claimed to be offering me a discount on my activation. They went through the locked account process by requesting a code to be sent to my phone & just needed that code to take ownership of my account

If you are called by a scammer and asked to press a button (eg press 1 to...) it is impossible for you to be charged a premium rate call. Many said they were worried about this, having had similar calls to the HMRC scam one I tweeted about yesterday. So I wanted to clear it up (and I've double checked with Ofgem). However if you call them, or if you click to call back after they've left a voicemail or from a missed call, you may be charged a premium rate. So the best thing if you're in any doubt is exercise caution and not engage. Frankly anyone calling you out of the blue to tell you you must take urgent or secret financial (or tech) action is almost certainly a criminal scammer (common ones are from HMRC, Microsoft, delivery firms, NHS). Be very wary. Any reputable organisation will have a way you can contact them (find their number independently, don't use one from the potential scam call) to check if the call is real, if you're worried. These people are clever, nasty, conscience-less criminals who prey on inattention, fear and vulnerability. The sooner laws are tightened to stop them having access to mass calling, and social media sites, the better.

The 🛒 is such a total 🤡 his policy on omicron is - it's so dangerous work from home, but carry on with christmas parties theyre cool... Are MPs realising yet this farce will end their careers if they dont remove the entire dysfunctional court pronto?

@jas88 @nobdy_imp @LanceForman What about NZ’s vastly different population densities? I hope they won’t get a second peak as that is where my parents are atm...

@nobdy_imp @LanceForman Everyone assuming Australia and NZ doing better because of their vastly superior governments - I’m dubious there tbh. What if their weather makes a difference too?

LBC “UK officials impounded PPE collected from Turkey as it doesn’t meet UK Safety Standards” Turkey’s population is bigger than UK but they’ve only had 3500 deaths from Covid - 10% of UK. Maybe their safety standards are better than ours! Imperfect PPE is better than none.

@twostraws Yeah almost certainly. I thought *maybe* since the most recent Mac mini is upgradable that they might have had a change of heart. I know, I’m dreaming 😉

@skisidjames @Chosen1Gods Except that I can’t for medical reasons - the DVLA will not issue a provisional one to me. I am not walking around with my passport just to prove my ID.

@Chosen1Gods Yup, great, carry an ID card - even a non driver can hold a provisional driving licence - it might also reduce election fraud..

EU citizens in the UK will reportedly have to produce documentation to prove their right to access free healthcare under the NHS after a no-deal Brexit. Good, about time, they should always have been doing this..

@fiavvek @JeannieClark_ Yes, their current plan - Couverture maladie universelle came in just after you moved I think. There’s something extra for those who can’t afford the other 20% too, so no need to panic about not having the NHS paying via S1...

@jas88 @JeannieClark_ When I lived in France, blissfully unaware of what the UK offered in terms of medical care, we would pay our healthcare bills and get refunded something like 80% by the French healthcare service. That was some time ago though...

@JeannieClark_ Guarantee it *won’t* and he just gained a vote - can you think of a reason the NHS should be funding healthcare in France instead of focusing resources here?

@JGamblin If you use a Windows phone, insert a fork in each of the ports to the right of that... BlackBerry users: charge in the time machine en route back to 2000, no point powering one up this decade.
