Remember last year when Arkansas played all their high-caliber SEC opponents closely, but lost a non-conference game to Notre Dame by 43 points? L to Ole Miss by 6 L to Texas A&M by 3 L to Tennessee by 3 L to Texas by 15 L to Notre Dame by… 43 The Irish didn’t have much trouble against the “depth” and the team at the bottom of the conference. And then remember when the SEC got 5 teams in a 12 team playoff field and didn’t even reach the National Championship? Surely just a coincidence.

One vexing question hovers over the 24-team CFP push: Who’s going to pay for it? ESPN was the only bidder last time and is clearly against 24. Fox wants 24 but is not exactly swimming in cash. The conferences need at least $250M to make it work. nytimes.com/athletic/72910…

Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard on SEC/Big Ten threatening to break away to form its own league: “Let them break away. We should break away from them. Let them go, but they have to go in all their sports & see how fun it is to play baseball, softball & track when it’s just the 20 of you. That’s what I think we should do, but I'm one person & that’s probably a little more draconian. That’s how I feel about it. Like, let’s quit talking about it. Quit threatening. Go do it. But if you’re going to do it, you don’t get to just do it in football & then keep all your other sports w/us. No, take them all. See how fun it is.”

Toughest part about the NBA Draft process are the unknowns You can’t foresee 1st rounders AJ Griffin and Jaden Ivey choosing religion over ball Or Royce White drafted 16th and then realizing how severe his fear of flying was 19th pick Kai Jones with wild IG Lives

There is only one city in the United States that doesn't grow north - Minneapolis-St. Paul, restricted by geography. Every other city in the country grows north. That's the framework Rex Glendenning has been using for 40 years to position himself in front of growth. People in Celina laughed at him 30 years ago for buying dirt in the boondocks. He plowed every dollar after taxes and overhead back into 40 and 50-acre tracts anyway. In this clip from this week's episode - the rule of thumb Rex says should be on the first page of every real estate book.

Notre Dame had a home-and-home with Ohio State in the last five years. Notre Dame has a home-and-home with Texas in the next five years. Notre Dame has had and will have several other high-profile home-and-homes. Give the ND complaints a rest already.

Oklahoma beat Michigan 24-13 in a major ranked non-conference showdown early in the season last year. This matchup means absolutely nothing in a 24-team format. #18 Michigan (9-3) is comfortably in anyway and the loss to Oklahoma is forgotten.

When I was with MSU football, we traveled to Iowa for a game. At one point, I got separated from the group, (long story) but I found myself walking toward the stadium in my Spartan jersey. I was walking through a massive group of Iowa fans tailgating. I’d been to Ohio State already, so I was mentally ready for all the horrible stuff I was about to experience. Before I had got 100 feet in, people had given me pork chop sandwiches, chips, all kinds of stuff. I ended up chatting with a bunch of them and they were just the best fan base ever. They loved Iowa football and were just so dang pleasant. Eventually, I got back to the stadium and a couple hours later the game started. I was curious as to what these sweet people would be like once the missile launched. When you’re on the sideline in Iowa, you are right next to the fans. The distance between you and them is very small. I’ll tell you what, They hurled some of the best and most creative verbal abuse I’ve ever heard in my life. Absolutely first rate. They will always be my favorite fan base in the Big Ten.
