@RedHotFuzz @chadpostolico @dominicptaranto You’re comparing Jesus speaking with people in person to your praying to Mormon Jesus and Mormon Jesus giving you a fuzzy feeling? Is it Jesus you’re claiming is responding to you? The Holy Spirit? What are your biblical claims that show Christians should affirm truth in this way

I’ve never come across intellectually honest Mormon apologists. Probably because their religion is so insane that the second they become intellectually honest they leave it.

So much conversation happening right now about Mormonism and whether or not it is just kind of a weird form of Christianity. Before we ever get into the nitty-gritty of this question, we must first ask if Mormons are monotheists. They are not. Lord have mercy.

@AlderNate @LaCivilian We do have the original Egyptian Papyri that JS claimed he translated into the Book of Abraham, before hieroglyphics were deciphered and yet we now know that’s it’s just a traditional ancient Egyptian funeral text. You're comparing apples and oranges. The Utrecht Psalter is a copy of Psalms, not the original manuscript written by David. In fact, nobody possesses the original Psalms, the original Isaiah, the original Matthew, or the original Revelation. The Book of Mormon was never claimed to be an ordinary manuscript preserved in a monastery. The claim is that God preserved the record for a specific purpose, had it translated, and then removed it. The better question is: why do you accept Moses receiving stone tablets from God, Elijah being taken to heaven, the Ark of the Covenant disappearing, and Christ ascending into heaven, but dismiss the possibility that God could remove another sacred record? The issue isn't whether God can do that. The issue is whether Joseph Smith and the witnesses were telling the truth. That's the real debate. Not whether an artifact survived in a library for 1,000 years.

Can we see the Ark of the Covenant? Can we see the stone tablets Moses brought down from Sinai? Can we see the original manuscripts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John? Can we see the cross Jesus was crucified on? Can we see the empty tomb? Can we see the resurrected Christ? Can we see the miracles He performed? Can we see the Garden of Eden? Can we see Noah's Ark? Can we see the burning bush? Can we see the rod of Aaron that budded? Can we see the manna preserved from the wilderness? Can we see the angel Gabriel? Can we see the Mount of Transfiguration event? Can we see Pentecost? Yet Christians accept all of those things based on witness testimony and faith. The irony is that the Book of Mormon actually has more direct witnesses than many biblical events. Eleven men publicly testified they saw or handled the plates, and several maintained that testimony even after leaving Joseph Smith and the Church. The question isn't whether you can see the plates today. The question is whether the witnesses were telling the truth.

Joseph Smith claimed that he translated the Book of Mormon from an ancient language called "Reformed Egyptian," and that the Book of Abraham was translated from Egyptian papyri. To this day, there is no proof that "Reformed Egyptian" was ever a language that existed. His "translation" of the Egyptian papyri has also been proven to not match the actual texts...at all. As Christians, we have to hold firm to Scripture. Galatians 1:8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. Why do you think Mormonism (LDS) has grown to such a large size today?

Mormons are often very personally offended when Christians say that Mormonism isn’t Christian. This is dumb. Joseph Smith’s first “encounter” with God involves God telling Smith that every creed Christians profess is an abomination to God. Every creed. That includes the Nicene Creed. They reject who God is, who Jesus is, the nature of salvation, the nature of exaltation, the clear teaching of Scripture, etc.. Mormonism rejects the very core of the Christian faith in all its essentials. Joseph Smith knew this but nowadays they are playing mind games with their own people and with real Christians. Either THEY are Christians or WE are. It’s one or the other. Not both. When asked “Will all be damned but Mormons?” Smith replied, “Yes, and a great portion of them unless they repent and work righteousness” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 119) The Doctrine and Covenants (1:30) leaves no doubt to the Mormon teaching of exclusivity when it says the LDS Church is “the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth, with which I, the Lord, am well pleased ….” Brigham Young, second only to Joseph Smith in Mormonism said… “Should you ask why we differ from other Christians, as they are called, it is simply because they are not Christians as the New Testament defines Christianity” (Journal of Discourses 10:230). “The Christian world, so-called, are heathens as to the knowledge of the salvation of God” (Journal of Discourses 8:171). I could easily give you pages of them saying they are the only true Christians and how we are all ignorant beasts and our doctrines are wrong. They knew at the time they had a different God, gospel, Scripture, and system of belief. But now it has become expedient to pretend otherwise while still preaching all those false and unchristian things. Mormons, your leaders are gaslighting you and you are gaslighting us. You aren’t Christian but we want you to be. Flee from Mormonism. Flee from Joseph Smith.

Mormons. LDS followers. Step right up and answer these questions. If you do so honestly, we might make some progress on why we can’t call you Christian: Does God the Father have a physical body of flesh and bones? (D&C 130:22) How does that square with John 4:24 — “God is spirit”? 2. Was God the Father once a man who progressed to godhood? (King Follett Discourse) How does that fit Isaiah 43:10 — “Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me”? 3. Are there many gods in existence, with Heavenly Father having his own Father? How does this align with Isaiah 44:6 — “I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no God”? 4. Did Jesus and Lucifer (Satan) exist as spirit brothers in a premortal life? How does that reconcile with John 1:3 and Colossians 1:16, where Jesus created all things? 5. Does the Bible teach creation ex nihilo (out of nothing), or did God organize eternal matter? How do you read Genesis 1:1 and Hebrews 11:3? 6. Can faithful humans be exalted to become gods, create worlds, and have spirit children? Doesn’t Isaiah 43:10 and 44:8 say there is no God formed before or after Him? 7. Is the historic Christian Church (post-apostles) in total apostasy, requiring Joseph Smith’s restoration? How does that fit Matthew 16:18 — “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”? 8. Is the Bible the infallible Word of God, or only true “as far as it is translated correctly”? (8th Article of Faith) What does 2 Timothy 3:16 say about Scripture? 9. Is salvation by grace “after all we can do”? (2 Nephi 25:23) How does this match Ephesians 2:8-9 — “not a result of works”? 10. Is God eternally unchanging, or did He progress from man to God? (Malachi 3:6; James 1:17) If He progressed, how is He the same “yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8)?

@jmadisonswife @coolerjets @HwsEleutheroi They essentially believe in three levels of heaven. Research their beliefs on the telestial, terrestrial, and celestial kingdoms. Basically everyone goes to a certain level of heaven according to their deeds/faith. Just another heretical branch of LDS teachings. Erasing hell!

Social media is filled with the righteous indignation of the Mormons---who claim to be the only true Church, all other churches are corrupt, their creeds an abomination, their ministers the hirelings of Satan---that they, the Mormons, are not really Christians. It's just a tad ironic, but it does play on the ignorance of most LDS, and non-LDS, about LDS history and teachings. Their current modus operandi is to use the phrase "creedal Christians" and try to make the issue post-biblical. Here's the problem. The fundamental distinction between Christianity and Mormonism goes back to about 1400 BC, not 400 AD. Here is the foundational contrast: Before the mountains were born, Or Your brought forth the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. (Psalm 90:2) ...for I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. Joseph Smith, 1844 Now, two quick things: 1) Psalm 90 is a song of Moses, hence the early date. 2) The King Follett Funeral Discourse is not LDS Scripture. But it is the most often cited sermon of Joseph Smith by the leaders of the LDS Church itself, and is one of two foundational sermons preached within the last months of his life. Hence, the issue is stark and clear. Monotheism vs. polytheism, one transcendent Creator God vs. an exalted man from another planet. Just a reminder from Brigham Young as to how Smith's words were interpreted by those who heard him initially: “Mankind are here because they are the offspring of parents who were first brought here from another earth, and were enabled to propagate their species, and they were commanded to multiply and replenish the earth. How many Gods there are, I do not know. But there never was a time when there were not Gods and worlds, and when men were not passing through the same ordeals that we are now passing through. That course has been from all eternity, and it is and will be to all eternity.” Brigham Young, JD 7:333, August 28, 1859.

@DecodingFoxNews This is actually, true though. Mormons are not Christians and reject crucial Christian doctrine. They use the same vocabulary but a different dictionary. They are polytheists, believe they can become gods, believe Jesus was a created man, God was once a man, and on and on.

Calling the Church of Latter Day Saints not Christian reminds me of how some Protestants would claim Catholics weren’t Christian. When I was a kid I remember people calling Catholics idol worshippers and demonic. My family was Catholic.

@spencerg83 @MusingsOnChrist You’re begging the question. No one taught what Joseph smith taught for 1800 years. And unfortunately you all are terribly deceived on “the creeds.” I’ve heard it 100 times and what you guys believe historically developed is simply not true. It’s a way for JS to dismiss the Bible

@spencerg83 @MusingsOnChrist I am aware that LDS teach this heresy. Christians reject LDS doctrine, and LDS reject the Trinity, among numerous other Christian core tenets. LDS reject fundamental Christian beliefs so as they are not included under the pyramid of acceptable Christian denoms.

@fieldviewdreams @MusingsOnChrist The scriptures teach that the Father and the Son are separate beings, separate persons, with their own individual wills. Christ subjugated his will to the Father's. That is how they are one - and they want us to be one with them, thru perfect obedience to Christ's Gospel.

@MusingsOnChrist The Godhead is an oft misunderstood concept. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost - 3 distinct persons, 3 distinct beings. We worship Jesus as our Savior and Redeemer; and we worship His God, our Heavenly Father.
