Walker Smith dedicated 17 years to Waitrose, showing pride in his work, and yet he loses his job for trying to stop theft. This isn’t just unfair, it’s morally absurd. A man protecting his workplace should be rewarded, not punished. @waitrose has dealt with this completely wrong. Where is accountability? Where is common sense? This is how good people get treated in Britain today. Shameful.

Folks @marksandspencer rightly highlighted that they are sick of shoplifting & lawless people entering their stores assaulting & abusing their staff & @waitrose Conversely sacks one of its staff for confronting a shoplifter; What an Imbalance we have here between Two Supermarkets🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Shocking that you can be sacked for trying to stop a shoplifter having worked for that company for 17yrs. Shame on you @waitrose Staff should always come before shoplifters.

This👇 is as reported you really need to give your heads a wobble & reverse this👇decision; I’ve arrested detained 30 Shoplifters at your Twickenham branch in past 12yrs (ask the manager Stuart) & at times protected staff from attack; sacking a member of staff for challenging a shoplifter? Come on let’s have some balance here & some common sense?👇🤷‍♂️

So a bloke who worked for @waitrose for 17 years tackled a shoplifter in Clapham, the same area we’ve seen rampant lawlessness … and Waitrose FIRED him?! Disgraceful. They should thank him & give him a pay rise. What message is Waitrose sending to employees…and shoplifters?!

Why should @waitrose customers pay a premium to cover your shoplifting costs when you fire a bloke who actually wanted to stop a shoplifter?!

Had to take my son for an emergency dentist appointment this morning Couldn’t believe he got one on a Sunday and Easter too He’s currently on antibiotics and has to be seen again next week He was terrified. Anyone else scared of the dentist???

The fact that in Britain, you can be sacked from your job for stopping people from shoplifting is INSANITY. Commit a crime - no consequence Stop a crime - sacked from job We must boycott Waitrose.
