@shagbark_hick Yup! “I had to get vaccinated, they might have fired me. Then I’d have to make less money.”

Americans cannot tolerate the idea of voluntarily earning less money under any circumstances whatsoever. Even if making such a choice would be righteous -- as with taking a paycut to move back to your hometown in "Dollar General America" -- they condemn it. Even when Jesus repeatedly preaches about the dangers of money, most Americans recapitulate these teachings such that they come to believe "He didn't mean that I shouldn't go out and earn big bucks". If you even suggest that *maybe* He did mean we shouldn't chase the big bucks, they become exceedingly angry. This seems like a major flaw in American culture. There are simply times where one has to, for righteous reasons, spiritual reasons, political reasons, or whatever -- take the pay cut and accept contentment with less. Once you remove that ability with immense social pressure, endless commercialism and materialism, and an aggressively status-obsessed culture -- you weaken a people considerably, because they can only go where the market allows, and can only do things that allow them to accumulate money.

@flmon239 @ccinnybbun Grid lattice framework is exactly the words I was looking for when I saw the world in geometric patterns b4 I finally broke through. The best words I had for it then were fractals. Kinda cool to get a better definition on things that words can't really catch up with. Thanks

my friend bought me this 5-MeO-DMT cart like 2 and a half years ago and I'm still too afraid to properly hit it so it just sits there menacingly in my drawer

Dear @Ford The brakes on f150’s are too stiff to hold at intersections thus motivating the driver to use auto hold which probably degrades brake performance quicker over time. Also: the turn signal is wayyy too quiet. Thank you.

I’m just seeing a lot more flying insects of all types. Love bugs, mosquitos, flying ants, bees, moths, etc. It’s great to see.

Are we sure these ticks are normal ticks? We have a fertilizer shortage potentially developing across the world. Perhaps the tick releases are to help with that somehow by providing a food substrate for pollinating insects. I have no idea what I’m talking about but u never kno

I'm of the opinion that the stockade fortress is an underutilized architecture in our era. Excellent insurance against a breakdown of rule of law, for one, but for two, you'd keep deer out of the fenced area, thereby reducing tick populations -- and wild dogs, bears in your trash, rabbits in the garden, and raccoons would also stay out. More than any of that, of course, is the very cozy and secure feeling one gets inside a wooden stockade fortress. I grew up doing Revolutionary War Reenacting at Fort Stanwix in Rome, NY -- and I always swore that if I got rich I'd build a miniature version of it to live in. Pull the gates shut, and you're in your own world. No idea why next to nobody is building these kinds of fortresses just for that fact alone.

@flmon239 @SBleftCA @MarketPalmer_ Thanks. I’m limited by characters. All of these are pretty well known examples of competitions for the kids at these top schools and mean oodles more than SATs. That said, cheating is becoming a real problem for all of them.

I graduated high school with a guy who got a perfect ACT score (twice), played multiple varsity sports, was in band, National Honors Society, student council, had the highest possible GPA, a clean record, volunteered, AND was a minority. ...and he still didn't get into Harvard or Yale when he applied. Why not?

BREAKING: WE THE PEOPLE OF FLORIDA DEMAND A GOP PRIMARY DEBATE BE HELD FOR THE NEXT GOVERNOR OF FLORIDA. Debates among competing electoral candidates have become a campaign centerpiece in elections nationwide. Many states have developed a debate tradition and usually civil society groups have been critical in making these happen. Debates help voters make informed choices and encourage candidates to focus on policy issues, a conviction so widely held that these candidate showdowns have become mainstays of the electoral process in many places. We, the legal and registered Voters of Florida, are calling for all the Florida GOP gubernatorial candidates to stand up and be held accountable to the Voters of Florida and debate (at least once, more if time permits) Florida is too important of a state and our nation is at a historical turning point and we must make certain our choices for Governor of Florida are based on open and transparent election processes. Therefore, We The People of Florida DEMAND a GOP gubernatorial DEBATE prior to the primary elections. @ByronDonalds @JayCollinsFL @j_fishback @Paul_Renner @GovRonDeSantis The left should do the same but will almost certainly not adhere to any fair process. But WTPOF challenge them as well.

My dad, an electrician, died at 61, weeks after retiring. A close family friend, a welder, died of a heart attack (the same way), weeks before retiring. Both died while doing yard work A note on the working class: When I say I want a technocracy and don’t like the working class, what I mean is that Bob the welder should be in the coalition; he is talented and of moral fiber, and Ahmad the Uber driver and La Quinta the humanities grad are our opposition My dad dressed, lived, and earned as a member of the managerial class. He was talented, driven, and earned his way Whites have been gatekept from classics and power for this reason, to prevent this. So people like his son, who had talent in the top 2%, couldn’t reap those benefits Fundamentally America has always, and Anglos will always, build an institutional and meritocratic governance based on noblesse oblige I don’t romanticize the people at UPS I worked with; a lot of them were lazy, on drugs, had horrible morals, or had weird pathologies This is not the same as like the German welder corps that makes my BMW Saying I want to be led by the meritocratic elites is along the lines of I want middle-class or poor Whites who got into Harvard and show good moral character, not the 1500th SaaS wrapper ZIRP apps My town was entirely working class. My dad and a car salesman were the wealthiest earners, 1,200 people. Many of these people were poor or didn’t earn much, and, frankly, they deserved it! They gossiped, they were judgmental, they were deceitful, they were covetous, they had drug problems, they would vote to rob the producers of the world blind There’s a stark difference between the “producing” working class and the rest. The Walmart workers weren’t much better, but some were In short, many of them would’ve made life worse for all of us if it allowed them to have a little more of what they didn’t earn Increasingly, the working class is not a construction team of HS/college guys and carpenters. Many of my HS friends who became carpenters, welders, and landscapers are salt-of-the-earth people. They’d agree politically. Maybe not with the rhetorical terms, but in policy Instead, the lionized working class is becoming resentful teachers, unionist race hustlers, illegal farm workers, Uber drivers who don’t speak English. It is no longer the honorable duty of a soldier; it is a mess cook who’s got 100% disability and is transitioning This is the backbone of left populism. An extractive “working class” coalition of under-earners extracting welfare from earners. The earners who otherwise should earn more Not a coalition of Kamalas and Ibram Kendis, a coalition of people who go to UC Berkeley and build industrial companies, farmers who have landed estates, oil men I am above all pro-strength

@MarketPalmer_ Two things: First, for even the top students admission to HYPMS is a crap shoot. Second, I see nothing exceptional about this child in your description. You mention NHS but not NMS. You don’t mention course rigor nor things like IMO, JMO, ISEF, John Locke…..
