I'm not sure that the whole public sector argument is one you want to pick, given that many crucial public sector jobs have seen nowhere near the same increases, after years frozen on zero or 1%.

@sharrond62 I don't think a uni has organised this. Lots of private events companies put on 'fresher' parties and activities in university cities. It's outside of the university freshers programme and all a bit of a rip off!

@SVPhillimore I work in a organisation that deals with these all the time. We NEVER ask for people to send us identification documents. That's not a reasonable request, or way of gathering sensitive data! What they gonna do, hit 'delete email' and think it's all gone away?! Blimey!

Yesterday at the after event pub we were served by a very lovely young woman. She was very friendly and polite. It must have been very difficult for her as she’d clearly taken testosterone, had very short hair and was not “identifying” as a woman. There was not a hint of masculine energy, just a really nice normal girl. I gave her a tip and said thank you for her great service and that I appreciated how uncomfortable it must have been for her, she agreed that it was. I thought about her all evening and again this morning. How has this happened to her? What was she trying to escape? Who sold her the drugs? How did she ever think guzzling cross sex hormones would be the answer to whatever she’s trying to resolve? My heart breaks for her.

@NM_Rdg @ThePosieParker Yep. The pressure on young boys and girls to conform and meet certain standards is heart breaking and damaging if they reject, or can't meet, the standard. They are judged and 'othered'.

@flossyduck @ThePosieParker That is what's being missed. People are now being flagged as "weird" for not conforming with their gender. If gender non-conforming and non-binary identities were accepted, you'd see fewer people undergoing medical treatment. But too many people are trying to enforce "normal".

1. This is a fascinating back and forth between Chat GPT and Grok. It started as a result of the thread below when someone said this in response and I put their comment to Grok. I then decided to put Grok’s reply to Chat GPT and it went from there. Chat GPT ripped Grok a new one!

@Serena_Partrick @bballengland Devil's advocate. If teams at primary age aren't mixed sex lots of small schools won't be able to field one and will drop out. My daughter played football and netball at that age. Only 6 girls in her class. It enabled participation for fun & the serious players all joined clubs.

You can't have a "female category" with males in it, @bballengland. This is not hard. Make all under 12s mixed sex, or give girls their category with no boys in it. Boys who will outperform their girls from AT LEAST age 6.

A couple days ago @DownloadFest announced that single sex toilet facilities will be available to those who want to use them at Download Festival. The festival is also offering “gender neutral” toilet facilities to be available to those who want to use them. This should have been a good and reasonable way to make everybody happy whilst also abiding by the law. Instead “trans” activists seem to be having an absolute meltdown, claiming that this is “immoral” and men should just ignore the law and enter the female spaces anyway. Some men are outright saying this is what they’re going to do at Download Festival, some women are openly encouraging these men to do that, to “stand up to white patriarchy”. So what have we learned here? Nothing is ever good enough for the woke lunatics.
