On my way from an exciting holiday in Zambia I had an unpleasant experience with a Zambian Police Assistant Inspector along the Chirundu Highway who wanted to robe us in broad daylight. He flagged us down 15 km from the border and without explaining any charge demanded that we turn the car back and drive to Lusaka. We asked what the issue was but he couldn't explain and yet demanded 1000 Kwacha if he would leave us. We refused, gave him my passport and will be making a formal charge against him to Zambia Police Service. Under Michael Carrick, Manchester United have beaten City, Arsenal, Villa, Chelsea, Brentford, Fulham, Everton, Palace & Tottenham. That's 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th & a relegation battler. I don't know what Michael Carrick could have realistically done better? West Ham & Newcastle were bad, tough away trips. Leeds was diabolically bad in the first half. That night at Bournemouth was a refereeing disgrace. Put that in perspective though. His job has been to get results, get the club back on track. He couldn't have delivered more. He's being held to a standard Ruben Amorim never was & is doing a far better job than Amorim ever did (9 wins in 13 games vs 8 wins in 20) with Amorim's players.

Ruben Amorim could have gotten us Champions League football if he stayed. The foundation Carrick is thriving on? That’s Amorim’s work… the players he brought in, the basics he drilled, the partnerships and instincts he built. Even now, you can see traces of it… even if some of it is starting to fade in players like Mbeumo and Amad. And let’s not forget — Amorim is a big reason Bruno Fernandes is still at Manchester United. Bruno was close to leaving, but Amorim pulled him back in because he believed in his project. Say what you want, but the roots of this progress didn’t just appear overnight.
