so you’re telling me 5 min before trump announced a ceasefire, someone in his inner circle loaded up on a perfectly-timed trade (long stocks, short oil), walked away with billions, and then we the plebs are told $8 gas is just “the price of freedom” so just get less starbucks ???
unusual_whales@unusual_whales

BREAKING: Just five minutes before Trump's announcement to halt the attacks on Iran, massive trades reportedly hit the market. In one move, $1.5 billion in S&P 500 (ES) futures was bought while $192 million in oil (CL) futures was sold. These orders were 4–6x larger than anything else at the time. The trader seemingly made huge gains. Unusual.

“There has been a purposeful transfer of wealth from young to old over the last 40 years. The tax code's gone from 400 pages to 4,000. And those 3,600 pages aren't there to help the young and the middle class. They're to transfer money from people your age to my age.” Do you agree? @profgalloway

Why would you reelect 535 Senators and Representatives who have mismanaged (in some cases stolen) the peoples' money - and run up $39 Trillion in debt?

Our state is losing people way too quickly because it moves too slowly and taxes are too high for what we get compared to others. This is not dire yet, but it will be. Dems think acknowledging this is political suicide but ignoring it is gross negligence.

Compromise in DC feels dead right now as partisanship wins out over actually getting things done to make people’s lives better. TSA lines are a mess because funding is stuck in a bigger fight. Why not just fund TSA now, and negotiate the rest of the DHS bill separately, with Democrats giving concessions elsewhere in that bill? With the SAVE Act. Republicans should drop the passport requirement and unrelated transgender provisions. Democrats should agree to voter ID. Meet in the middle and move forward. At the very least, show up and debate the issues. We desperately need to elect some common sense independents.

"In America, 20%, a minority faction of the country, is in total charge, waging war on its own people. That is only possible because of the way the two party system distorts... It's a bad way to run a country." @DanCantor_ explains how the two party system distorts democracy.

What we’ve been talking about for more than a year: AI campaign bribes will lead to them writing the rules on a technology that will have massive impacts on the entire country.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

BREAKING: The White House is out with a new National Policy framework for AI. The proposal says: "States should not be permitted to regulate AI development." It also says that states shouldn't be able to penalize AI companies when people break the law with their models.

Fascinating to me watching my former colleagues posting about the national debt reaching $39t, when just a few months ago they were celebrating the One Big Beautiful Bill, (which they pretty much all voted for,) that adds $22.5t of debt over the next ten years. It’s an amazing disconnect.

We just crossed $39 trillion in debt. That number should scare anyone with children or anyone hoping to retire with some dignity. The interest bill keeps climbing. Every year we refuse to deal with the math leaves your family with a weaker country.

The national debt just crossed $39 trillion. Any U.S. House or Senate candidate who doesn’t have a plan to address this doesn’t deserve your vote.

Trump's full rant on Cuba: "I think Cuba, in its own way, tourism and everything else, it's a beautiful island, great weather. They're not in a hurricane zone, which is nice for a change, you know? They won't be asking us for money for hurricanes every week. I do believe I'll have the honor of taking Cuba. That's a big honor. Taking Cuba in some form, you know. Taking Cuba. I mean, whether I free it, take it -- I can do anything I want with it, if you want to know the truth."

The majority in the middle doesn’t make as much noise as the political extremes, but let us share a few things we view as complete nonsense: • Joe Biden running for reelection and the Democratic Party lining up to tell us he was ready for another campaign season and four more years in office. • Donald Trump claiming there was voter fraud against him in 2016, 2020, and 2024, and that he actually won in 2020 and by even more in the other two years. • Congress never voting to overturn Citizens United to limit the corrosive influence of big money in our elections. • Running $2 trillion annual deficits while the national debt approaches $39 trillion. • Members of Congress trading individual stocks while writing the laws that affect those same companies. • Decades of Middle East wars that enrich defense contractors while costing trillions of dollars and putting the lives of our brave soldiers on the line. Let us know what we missed.

Andrew's been right about a lot of things and he's right about this. We shouldn't be taxing labour so highly when it's in the crosshairs of automation. Even better: shift income taxes to land value, and build sovereign wealth funds that hold AI firm equity and pay UBI.
UBI Works 🇨🇦@ubi_works

BREAKING: Andrew Yang says we should stop taxing workers, and tax AI instead. That can fund UBI. "We should try to stop taxing labor."

There are a lot of states and districts where a Republican or Democrat will have a hard time being competitive. But an independent could absolutely win as the primary challenger to the incumbent. Kelly Doss running against Tom Emmer in Minnesota’s CD6 is a great example.
