Only weeks ago, the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard were chasing sanctioned oil tankers affiliated with Russia and Iran across the world, intercepting, boarding, and at points seizing them for the United States. Now the Trump Administration is considering removing the sanctions levied on these same vessels, allowing them to continue making money for the regimes in Moscow and Tehran.

Today marks the anniversary of the start of the Iraq War.
My unit, 5th Marines, like so many others, bore the weight of the Global War on Terror. We lost friends. We carried the mission. And we lived the consequences of decisions made far above our pay grade.
We cannot afford to make the same mistakes again.
Regardless of your political affiliation, at a minimum, we should all acknowledge this: as Marines steam toward Kharg Island, this will not be easy. War never is.
And when our foreign policy lacks clarity or consistency, the burden falls on those sent to carry it out.
The Executive Branch will soon ask Congress for funding.
As a GWOT veteran who served alongside some of the bravest men I’ve ever known, I’m asking you…demand answers.
What is the objective?
What does success look like?
And how do we get there?
The American people, and those who serve, deserve nothing less.
