This is a much bigger deal than many people realize. The Texas Department is one of the largest and most influential departments in the American Legion, representing tens of thousands of Legionnaires and carrying significant weight at the national level. A formal Texas resolution opposing #TCAVA (while National continues to support it) isn’t just another disagreement. It’s a public fracture within one of the nation’s largest veterans organizations.

This would be great, if ICE hadn’t already killed multiple people who weren’t their intended targets. Every ICE agent should be wearing a body camera. If officers acted appropriately, the footage protects them. If they didn’t, it protects the public.

BREAKING: Per multiple federal sources to @FoxNews, ICE has been instructed to immediately cease most vehicle stops during immigration enforcement operations nationwide, except for operations targeting the most egregious criminal aliens. This comes after two people were killed by ICE in shootings in TX and ME in the last week in incidents that began as vehicle stops. DHS alleges one of those incidents was a ramming attempt. I’m told this will be temporary until ICE officers receive new training on vehicle stops. The policy change will have significant impacts as many of ICE’s arrests begin as vehicle stops when they find and follow a target, as we’ve witnessed on multiple embeds. More to come as we get it. @RepChipRoy defends OPPOSITION to certain provisions in the proposed TCAVA legislation. Thank you, Representative Roy. "I appreciate what the chairman's [Bost] trying to do in some respects, but there's a few issues," Roy said. Among them, Roy pointed to provisions offsetting new spending through changes affecting other veterans. "You're taxing certain veterans to provide some sort of benefits and changes to other veterans," Roy said. "There are concerns about some of the pay-fors." In other words, a grateful country pays its debts; it does not send veterans the bill. But Chairman Bost continues to provide misleading information. @VFWHQ has taken issue with Section 108 of the bill, warning that it would codify changes to future disability ratings for tinnitus and sleep apnea to help finance other veterans' priorities. But Bost said this is inaccurate: "No veteran is going to have their benefits reduced," Bost said. "If you're receiving a benefit right now, that's not going to be reduced at all." This is patently untrue. If you are currently receiving a benefit for tinnitus, and either of those claims becomes subject to re-evaluation (for example, if you submit additional medical documentation), your case will be evaluated against the new proposed rating schedules, and your benefit will very likely be drastically reduced. #TCAVA #MRSA #veterans

On July 13, 2026, at approximately 7:00 AM ET, ICE was conducting targeted surveillance on the last known address of an illegal alien with a final order of removal. An illegal alien departed the residence in a vehicle. ICE law enforcement attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The vehicle attempted to flee the scene and, fearing for public safety, an officer discharged his weapon. The driver of the vehicle was struck, and emergency services were immediately contacted. He passed away from his injuries.   The Biddeford Police Department and FBI responded to the scene. DHS OIG has been notified and like all discharge of firearms this will be investigated. This is a developing situation, and we will update the public when more information is available.
