@jakozloski For any iq correlation I always wonder whether the effect also holds above 110. So not starting at 80, but 110.

IQ is the most predictive single measure in a century of psychometrics: education, job performance, income, longevity. Mate choice is no exception. Spouses correlate ~.40 on intelligence, four times personality. The mating market runs on it; few will admit it. Study: nature.com/articles/mp201…

@jakozloski There was no sharing/monopolisation by the top 1% men. You married someone from the same town. Your friends and family largely set you up. Life was good.

This table is from a survey given to college students in 1939, asking them to rank 18 traits in a future spouse. Love was 4th for men, 5th for women. The same survey ran for 57 years. By 1996, love was #1 for both. labs.la.utexas.edu/buss/files/201…

@jakozloski 80/20 is true. Is it the same few men dominating the 20s or not?

3.3M photo ratings on Keeper. Women 25-29 say No to 77% of men's photos. Men the same age say No to 52% of women's. By 45+, the gap is gone: 60% vs 62%. Standards for men are most brutal in the late 20s, then soften every year after.

I think people don’t realize how bad investment banking hours are till they actually try and do it themselves Working 80 hours within itself is a lot, but the worst part is the unpredictability of the work Your weekend plans, vacation or late nights can get blown up at any time. Freezes you up from making commitments with friends and family, which ends up leading to more isolation and burn out During the really busy weeks and deals sprints, hours can easily move up to 80 or 90 hours/wk. That incremental 10 hours between 70 hours and 80 hours eats into your basic life activities, like setting aside time for eating a meal outside of your desk or getting enough sleep I can’t tell you how many young people come into this field thinking it’s all sunshine where you work on exciting deals and earn a lot of money The closer reality is that the can turn you into a walking zombie with high stress levels, with nothing going on outside of work To manage the job, you need to be insanely disciplined about creating boundaries outside of work, taking proper time off, and knowing when to push back on stupid asks from VPs and MDs

Notes from the Viking Billionaire: 1. Everyone talks about being happy, but what’s the point? Happiness can never buy you money. 2. If you’re poor, you’re seen as an idiot. When you have enough money and power, you’re eccentric. 3. He was the pioneer in introducing American‑style aggressive capitalism to Norway, boldly utilizing shareholder power to achieve his objectives. 4. He learned that it is not the size of the opportunity that defines the outcome, but rather the people who are with you pursuing the opportunity. 5. His strength lies in generating numerous strategic ideas, but he requires someone to help discern which ideas are viable and which are not

@riskmaxxing 300k at 23 is only a flex if you run it up to over 10m. 300k can be achieved with a little luck. 10M takes consistent skill

Mr Beast says he could start a faceless channel tomorrow and hit 20 million subscribers in six months “I could start a new channel tomorrow not using my face or my voice without ever promoting it and in six months have 20 million subscribers” “It’s purely knowledge if you knew what I knew you could get 10 million views a video and 10 million subscribers no matter where you are right now within 6 months” “It really is just knowledge”

@MichaelRosmer @chamath That's easy solved by making it a claim that's paid at sale of the non-fungible asset/company. Ignoring lending against the asset.

No there's a very important distinction The primary issue with wealth tax is you're trying to determine valuation in terms of Fiat and making it payable in terms of fiat If wealth tax was payable in the asset being taxed for example you fractionalize shares it wouldn't be nearly such as issue because you wouldn't need to determine valuation and you wouldn't need to sell the asset in question to pay the tax on it But there are other ways to do it such as in reverse by broadening the capital participation through issuance of shares. Interestingly this is common in silicon valley and doesn't create issues

The fundamental issue with wealth inequality is there's no decay function for ownership If you think about all other areas of life (relationships, health, etc) if you aren't continually working on it it is decaying But ownership in our modern legal system doesn't get taken away. This is contrary to biomimicry and results in a system that's not effectively meritocratic Ironically, there is a decay function to your cash and cash based Compensation, which we call inflation If you want to solve the issue the highly controversial injection needs to be to somehow introduce a decay function to ownership This doesn't inherently mean ownership would erode but rather that you'd need to contribute to adding value commensurate to the amount of ownership decay to remain at neutral and as ownership expands the proportional responsibilities to maintain the ownership would expand

Just hung out with my lovely niece. She started seeing a 5’6” Cuban bro, short but face game slays. Has a Jacob Elordi look & vibe, great curly hair & mustache. Meanwhile she friendzoned a 6’4” White bro because “he’s too tall & looks like a redneck.” Face>>>>height

After like 20 countries it’s all the same. Each new city is the same experience as the last new city. The newness of slightly different food, people, entertainment, are all slightly different in a way that’s familiar, in a way that that the difference is the same. The experience of being somewhere new is no longer new. There is no point in going to 40+ counties. You won’t remeber 25 of them and all you get out of it is a line for your dating app profile.
