April 2028 zusätzlich zur bestehenden Kfz Steuer eine kilometerabhängige Abgabe für Elektroautos einführen. Hintergrund sind sinkende Einnahmen aus der Kraftstoffsteuer. Belastung: Die Abgabe soll zunächst drei Pence je Meile betragen. Das entspricht rund 2,2 Eurocent pro Kilometer. Nach Angaben der britischen Regierung würde dies bei einer durchschnittlichen Fahrleistung von 12900 Kilometern rund 277 Euro pro Jahr bedeuten. Junge Käufer haben dort absolut keine Lust mehr auf den klobigen #SUV-Einheitsbrei. Der Clou dahinter ist eine geniale Mischung aus Aerodynamik und modularer Technik. Da E-Autos auf extrem flachen Skateboard-Plattformen stehen, können Marken wie #BYD, #Zeekr oder #Denza mit minimalem Aufwand wunderschöne, flache Silhouetten auf die Straße bringen. Das bringt massive Reichweitenvorteile auf der Autobahn, ohne dass man auf den gigantischen Kofferraum verzichten muss. Jo Nagai was raising swallowtail butterflies at his home in Kobe, Japan, when he noticed something odd. The ones he had looked after as caterpillars seemed to recognize him. Wild butterflies fled. His didn't. He was in second grade. He wrote a four-page letter to Dr. Martha Weiss, an entomologist at Georgetown University who had studied whether moths could retain memories through metamorphosis. He asked if she could help him design a version of her experiment for butterflies. She said yes. Using a muscle therapy device, Jo trained caterpillars to associate the scent of lavender with a mild vibration. When the caterpillars became butterflies, 70 per cent of them still avoided the lavender. Their brains had been completely rebuilt during metamorphosis. The memory survived anyway. Then he bred them. The offspring, which had never been trained, also avoided lavender. So did their grandchildren. Without ever experiencing the vibration, two generations of butterflies inherited an aversion to a scent their grandmother had been taught to fear. Jo documented it all in a 33-page research paper and presented his findings at the International Congress of Entomology in Kobe in 2024. He was 10. A second grader wrote a letter to a Georgetown professor, and together they found evidence that butterflies can pass memories down through generations. -Wilderness Whisper

Qatar has reportedly blocked a proposed partnership between Volkswagen and Israeli defense company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems to manufacture components for the Iron Dome missile-defense system at Volkswagen's Osnabrück plant in Germany. The Qatar Investment Authority, which owns 10.4% of Volkswagen and controls about 17% of its voting rights, opposed the deal because the partner was an Israeli company. The project could have helped save around 2,300 jobs at the Osnabrück factory, where vehicle production is scheduled to end in 2027. Volkswagen confirmed that its Qatari shareholder blocked the proposed cooperation and said it is now exploring alternative partnerships for the site. A separate $4.2 billion plan for German shipping giant Hapag-Lloyd to acquire Israeli shipping company ZIM is also unlikely to proceed. In that case, Israeli officials opposed the sale, arguing it could put a strategically important national asset at risk during a national emergency. Defense Minister Israel Katz said the sale "would not protect Israel's security interests." Hapag-Lloyd has significant Gulf state shareholders: Qatar's sovereign wealth fund owns 12.3%, and Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund owns 10.2%.

@RealRusty Ich verstehe das Problem nicht, ein E-Auto kann gerne 30 kW ziehen, dass macht bei 40ct die kW 12€. Ziemlich teuer für eine gratis Leistung. Wallboxen kommen häufig mit günstigeren Verträgen und der Verbrauch kann besser abgerechnet werden.
