No, sorry. You’re going to die. Very soon actually, in the grand scheme of things. You have several decades at most. In 70 or 80 years, tops, nobody reading these words right now will be alive. Most will not even be remembered. This fact is so terrifying to some people that they live every second in denial, clinging to the insane hope that somehow “science” will come along and rescue them from mortality. Even if it could — which it definitely can’t — then what? You live to watch all of your friends and loved ones die and even their tombstones decay while you linger on, trembling in fear and grasping desperately onto a life that, no matter how long it lasts, you’ve already wasted? And then you get to see the Earth decay around you and the Sun burn out ? Wow. Sounds like a lot of fun. But no thanks. I don’t need to live for a million years. I just want the time I have, however long or short, to be meaningful.
Andrew Côté@Andercot

Avoiding sun is being extremely bearish on the longevity/ biotech thesis Assume we will have peptides for everything. Retroviral DNA upgrades. Nanobot healing glands. Nature wants us dead at 35. Science will have us live to see the stars burn out.

THE REAL STORY of the Silvergate Bank “collapse” is finally starting to come out, due to the SEC lifting its “no-deny”/“no criticism” restriction on SEC settlements this week. @jaredkate, Silvergate’s then-COO, has started to talk👇 & more of Silvergate’s side of the story will come out, no doubt. As @nic_carter has reported, Silvergate didn’t actually collapse; rather, it was purposefully demolished as part of #OperationChokePoint2.0 — and it stands pretty much alone in banking history as a bank that paid out depositors amid a bank run without sticking the FDIC’s deposit insurance fund with losses. I’d already learned what happened from a different insider who was at the table back then: the insider witnessed the Fed ordering Silvergate to de facto liquidate by ceasing to service the crypto industry, the “voluntary” announcement of which started the bank run. The insider named names, and a senior Fed official later asked for that list of names (note: many of the people have since left the Fed or no longer in senior positions there). I can’t wait for the interviews of Silvergate executives who previously couldn’t talk but can now. I hope @MaxfieldOnBanks runs with this — he did a big analysis of the Silvergate story a few years ago and figured out that the mainstream narrative wasn’t correct. I look forward to hearing more from the execs, who successfully liquidated a bank under extreme bank run pressures. Are you ready to hear what they have to say???

The smart money knows this. - Liquidity is the enemy of convexity. - Scarcity is the friend of convexity. STRIVE ($ASST) vs STRATEGY ($MSTR) People are massively underestimating how structurally different these two setups now are. ASST: • ~$1.24B market cap • ~15.4k BTC • 1.37x mNAV premium • ZERO debt • Perpetual preferred capital (no maturity wall) • Functioning preferred ATM • Daily dividend preferred structure incoming • ~73M share float (SCARCITY) ASST options complex is completely insane: • ~$2.53B CALL open interest • ~$145M PUT open interest • Put/Call ratio: 0.057 • Total options exposure >2x entire equity market cap MSTR: • ~$21.6B CALL open interest • ~$19.7B PUT open interest • Put/Call ratio: 0.91 • Options exposure only ~41% of market cap Translation: $MSTR is the institutional Bitcoin sovereign. $ASST is becoming a small-float reflexive convexity machine. And the market structure matters: • Smaller float • Higher short interest • Massive call skew • Cleaner balance sheet • Positive mNAV premium • Active capital formation • No refinancing risk That means marginal inflows hit a MUCH smaller bucket with ASST. People keep staring at nominal stock price instead of structure. The real question is: What happens when a zero-debt Bitcoin treasury company with perpetual capital, extreme call positioning, and a tight float starts attracting reflexive inflows? BULLISH! @mikealfred @dgt10011 @hillery_dan @Strive @nithusezni @TNorth @AdamBLiv

Re the NYT essay below on 18-year terms for Supreme Court Justices, I have two thoughts. First, the "Framers couldn't have foreseen this" gets the point wrong. I don't think we have reason to believe the Framers couldn't have foreseen a Justice staying on the court for many decades. As far as I can tell, no one flipped out when Chief Justice Marshall was on the Court for over 34 years, from 1801 to 1835. What the Founders couldn't have foreseen is that the Court would be as powerful as it has become in the modern era. That's the problem, I think. More broadly, I'm a huge fan of 18-year terms for Justices, but just telling the NYT audience that it could be done by regular legislation is a disservice to readers. I know some people have made the argument that such reforms wouldn't require a constitutional amendment, but the argument is not a good one. As I see it, it's the kind of argument you make when you're deeply committed to an outcome and will take anything that sounds plausible. I get that this describes a non-zero number of influential people, but that doesn't improve it as an argument. Anyway, I realize this puts us in a cruddy position. Our Republic would be much healthier with 18 year terms for Justices, and yet we can't get there without a constitutional amendment that is, as a practical matter, out of reach. But I think that's where we are. nytimes.com/2026/05/19/opi…

I just had the scariest experience of my life. I'm visiting a friend in Naples, FL. She invites me on a walk to her brother's house in nice neighborhood, broad daylight, maybe 30 minutes through quiet residential streets. About halfway there, she turns to me. "Dude, there's a white car following us." I look back. A white BMW, hanging behind us at walking pace. I shrug it off. We're two grown women, broad daylight, beautiful neighborhood who's going to kidnap us? We keep walking. We hang at her brother's for 20 minutes. By the time we leave, it's getting dark. Around 8pm. Two blocks into the walk back, we run into one of her friends and his son. We stop and tell them about the white car as a joke. "You're not going to believe this a white BMW was following us earlier." We're laughing. They're laughing. We say goodbye and keep walking. Five minutes pass, the same white BMW pulls in behind us. We start walking faster. There are no other cars on the road. Just him. We speed up,he speeds up. I look at my friend. She looks at me. We start running. She calls her husband. He's home with their two kids asleep, he can't just leave them. The BMW keeps pace. Minutes feel like hours. Finally, a young woman pulls into her driveway. We wave her down. The BMW pulls up next to us, rolls down his window, a man, late 20s… says something we couldn't hear, and drives off. We explain our situation and ask her if she can drive us home. Now this is where the story gets crazy. My friend texts the neighbor we'd run into earlier, the one we'd told the joke to. A few minutes later, his reply comes in. He'd asked his son about the white BMW. His son told him the same white BMW has been parked at their bus stop the last two afternoons. Just sits there when the kids get off. Never picks up a single kid. We are very, very lucky to be home safe tonight. To anyone in Naples, FL please be aware. White BMW. Male driver, late 20s. Be safe out there.

Everyone calm down for a minute. If you’re in the age bracket that is considered a “boomer”, this does not apply to all boomers. This applies to boomers that own a lot of property and their children are suffering and they choose to not help them. If you are triggered then maybe you need to analyze yourself. You want to “save the children” but you’re fine with letting your own children suffer while you live out your last few remaining years taking it easy. Do you I guess.
DOQ@doqholliday

If you're a boomer in your 60s and 70s and you own property and are well off but your children are struggling and can't even buy a home, what the hell are you doin? Your time is over. It's their time. Help them. Be a good parent, do whatever it is you need to do... sell the house if you need to, give them some kickbacks to help buy their first home, etc. Life is short. Be a good parent and don't squat on stuff that doesn't matter. Give them their time.

I'd be curious to know what people would do in my position. If I leave NYS, where should I go? Keep in mind I: - Hate humid heat - Am and will always be a low-earner (low prop. tax more important than low income tax) - Do not fit into "normie" HVAC drywall strip-mall world - Am very Catholic and wish to go to Mass every single day if possible - Am very much a "Yankee" but alternately I do mesh well with Latinos and speak some basic Spanish - Want to be around friendly, well-read, thoughtful eccentrics (esp 'Catholic hippies') - Could do rural or urban, cold-wet or desert climate - Prefer to avoid total reliance on automobiles - Need a place where I can buy a house CHEAPLY (as in, under $100k -- $200k at the absolute most) There are compromises anywhere, to be sure. Thus far I figure I could, in no particular order: 1. Get over my hatred of hot-humid heat and move back to Chalmette, LA 2. Get over my aversion to cars and live in rural NM on the fringes of Silver City or maybe T or C 3. Try out El Paso 4. Pony up big money and try out Coos County NH 5. Try out normiedom in or near Wichita (?) 6. Live in the hood in Steubenville OH 7. Move to Tucson or maybe ABQ 8. Forget all this and just be full-blown nomadic in a boat or a bus Or, of course, I could stay in NYS, though all my friends here are leaving and I'm starting to think the writing is on the wall for me here. What would you do? I get a lot of scattershot advice on this so I figured it'd be interesting to make a thread for it.
