There are two things that are not going to work, and the sooner people realise that, the better for all of us. They are: 1. Accusing Chamisa of being bribed by ZANU PF without tangible evidence to support such allegations. Such claims may occupy us on Twitter, but the ordinary person has no time for them. 2. Gaslighting the anti‑2030ists because of truly questionable political decisions they made in the past. The middle class sees in them at least a pushback against 2030 that is not coming from other quarters. Zimbabweans are living in different bubbles, and each believes that their immediate environment is all there is to consider. That’s self‑deception, and that’s our current problem. What we need now is leadership — not a single person — that unites these two classes, because both are opposed to ZANU PF and to its many unruly and unworthy shenanigans. Such leadership must also reach out to the disgruntled within ZANU PF, including war veterans and the army. Those are also truly opposed to the current ZANU PF. That is what will give us a breakthrough. The idea that we must, through divisive and invective language, win debates in pubs and on social media is what has emboldened ZANU PF to continue on its ruinous path. “Throw them a bone and they’ll maul each other to death”. If we stay in that cocoon, we are guaranteed to die in our situation. Don’t be misled by the illusion of perspective.

Yes, power originates from the people. That’s agreed. But in practice, modern democracies operate through both direct and representative mechanisms. When citizens vote for Members of Parliament, they are delegating authority to act on their behalf including in complex governance processes. So: ✔️ The people remain the source of power ✔️ Parliament exercises delegated authority from the people ✔️ Representation is not a loss of power it is how power is practically exercised Also, this is not unprecedented. In many constitutional systems, indirect election or parliamentary processes exist alongside direct voting. The key point is this: The people still choose their representatives. Those representatives then act within the constitutional framework. So it is not a “transfer away” from the people it is an exercise of the people’s will through representation.

Let's talk about the philosophical basis for One Man One Vote. Man is born as an individual with the assumption that as a citizen of Zimbabwe he has an equal claim to the sovereign being of the nation. The ±20 million of us have the same claim. We could divide this sovereign claim equally and each one lives in their own bubble. That is impractical. Instead we choose to collectively deposit our claims into one pot. Having done so, we agreed that we needed to delegate to a few individuals the powers that we would have individually exercised. That is the power to govern. It derives from the individual. The power to govern births the government. When power derives from the people it can be delegated but it cannot be transferred. It doesn't make sense to delegate a primary derivative to a delegate. The drafters of our constitution understood the principle of derivatives that is why the text of the constitution for the executive, legislature and judiciary is clear that their power derives from the people. A president is a primary derivative, so is parliament and judiciary. This was the basis for some of us' opposition to the draft in 2013 and Amendment 2. Judges must be voted in by the people not appointed by a president who is a delegate. Now, amendment 3 gives power to appoint a president to parliament who themselves are supposed to be at the same level as him. Primary power is being transfered from the owners of the power to delegates. This is like taking power to decide a new lodger(tenant) from the landlord and giving it to a tenant. There are certain things that tenants can bo eg who cleans the corridor or toilet but the primary power to appoint a new tenant cannot be taken away from the owner of the house. This is why it is important for us to oppose CABBAG3. We cannot have parliament choosing a president for us! Ndatenda

Zimbabweans deserve ZANUPF, and they deserve everything that is going to come with this amendment. I say so because Zimbabweans support personalities. You can even see in the comments of this tweet that they support personalities, not ideas. So if a big snake is in the house and someone you do not like has the capacity to remove that snake so that it does not bite your children, in typical Zimbabwean fashion they will ignore the person who is actually on their side in terms of the idea of achieving the removal of the snake. That person can even be arrested and they will not say a word simply because they do not like him. That is the problem of personality cult politics. In a normal society, people join hands if they are fighting for the same cause, if the goal is the same. But not in Zimbabwe. That is why I have always said, in terms of analysis, ZANUPF is going to continue to rule. It is almost assured of ruling for at least the next 11 years. Why do I say 11 years? There are two years left in President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s current term. If he extends his stay to 2030, that adds roughly four years. If the amendment introducing seven-year terms takes effect thereafter, that is another seven years. Seven plus four gives you 11 years. So ZANUPF is effectively assured of uninterrupted rule for at least the next 11 years, not because it is unbeatable, but because Zimbabweans opposing it are divided in the basis of personality politics. They are trapped in personality cult politics and do not support ideas. They are not focused on principles or outcomes. If Zimbabweans were focused on ideas and outcomes, Tendai Biti, Senator Jameson Timba, Job Sikhala, Nelson Chamisa would all be pulling in one direction to stop the amendment. Instead, their supporters fight each other and lose focus on what ZANUPF is doing. That is why it is often said that people get the leaders they deserve. In this case, it is a Zimbabwean problem. So if someone they do not socially like gets arrested for fighting for a just cause that seeks to liberate multitudes of people, they will ignore that person simply because they do not like him. If you look at Madzi Baba Weshanduko, he has been imprisoned for months on end, yet they do not give him the support that should be given to someone fighting for a just cause. Instead, they argue that he responded to Comrade Bombshell’s call to protest rather than to the call of their preferred leader. That is the level of pettiness that is undermining a collective struggle. So let people suffer until they open their eyes and begin to fight for ideas and a cause, not personalities. Until that shift happens, nothing will change. Robert Mugabe and Joshua Nkomo were rivals, but they put aside that rivalry and came together around a shared idea and a common cause at the Lancaster House talks in Britain. That unity of purpose is what helped deliver independence from colonial rule. Until today’s generation understands that, suffer continue!

While Chamisa and Biti are not friends, but his silence on the arrest of Biti and the mutilation of the constitution says alot about Nelson Chamisa's character and shows us were his true allegiance lies. As a young person I'm slowly loosing my trust in Chimisa. @nelsonchamisa
