@tecnoc22 @EthanLipnik imo its about where value lies. software is far more valuable as a tool to do work, whereas art is more valuable as human expression. we'll see ai art finding its niche where the art is about getting a job done, like flyers today

@FSDEurope @KRoelandschap You're supposed to slow down before the sign so that you are at that speed when you reach it. No sudden speed change needed, just some foresight.

@KRoelandschap For those who don’t get it, Sweden and Norway want Tesla/RDW to remove speed offset and force cars to match new speed limit signs immediately. That is unsafe (!!). Sudden speed changes, especially on highways, can cause accidents and should not be mandated.
FSD in Denmark 🇩🇰 tweet media
FSD in Denmark 🇩🇰@FSDEurope

My point is if the EU forces Tesla to kill the speed offset and stick to speed limits, I won’t use FSD on highways (~70% of my driving) and I’ll go back to manual unsafe driving. That’s honesty.

Okay Sweden, let’s confront you with your stupidity Was driving in Brussels and encountered this gem of infrastructure road signage genius In the heart of the regulatory heaven for crying out loud If FSD would always abide to EVERY single speed sign you are creating possibly life threatening situations You need to have contextual speed for exactly this kind of human error and no hard coded bullshit logic from fossils in government

One of the world’s best athletes ever, the Swedish-American pole vaulter Armand Duplantis criticizes the IOC for its decision to let Russian athletes compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics: “Nothing has changed (with the war). It’s just getting worse. I really don’t understand their decision. Honestly…”

@EuroDale @tweets20201 @grok You’re a dork. If you’re in decent shape you can run 6 miles in less than 30 minutes easily. These guys play for 100 minutes and move that far. Either they’re slow as fuck, like running 14 minute miles slow or they’re not actually running for the vast majority of the game

As a physician working in Germany: this lunacy will have catastrophic consequences for all sides: patients and doctors -and businesses: A) This will force patients to go to work when they should be staying home and resting, ultimately endangering themselves and others and prolonging recovery times - because it’s actually insane to demand from people with fever or diarrhea to actually physically go and see a doctor on the first day of their symptoms. B) This is going to be an absolute nightmare for doctors and emergency departments. There’s absolutely no capacity whatsoever in the German healthcare system for this utterly absurd legislation.
Megatron@Megatron_ron

NEW: 🇩🇪 No more sick leave for the Germans German Chancellor Mertz announced that, starting January 1, 2027, Germany will require a doctor’s note before employees can take a sick day.

@kristoph @Rapt0r_exe @HistorianZhang It was well engineered for the demands of the time. Being well engineered means not making it more expensive than it needs to be. It's why our buildings are not earthquake resistant.

Regarding the discussion about Türkiye versus Turkey. I love it when I’m politely asked whether it should be pronounced “Copenhaygen” or “Copenhaagen”. We call the city “København”. You can do whatever you like, and I have no preferences. But seriously: I wouldn’t want you all to write and say “København”. You don’t have the proper keyboards. And it’s really hard to pronounce if you didn’t grow up with it.

@moebius_strip @dacaldar With modern heat pumps, it takes less energy to cool a room down by one degree than heat it up.

@dacaldar Not sure if raising by 1 degree is easier than cooling by 1 degree, but yeah, heating is more energy-intensive in Canada for that reason

I’m assuming @ThePrimeagen is trolling here. But, just in case some people don’t know the “Ctrl-C” history… Buckle up, Buttercup. Here we go! 1) The usage of Ctrl-C for copying did not become common until after Windows 3.0 (which used Ctrl-Insert until Windows 3.1). 2) The change in Windows 3.1 was made to be somewhat similar the “Command-C” Mac (Classic) usage, primarily for consistency across platforms of Microsoft Office (which was popular on the Mac). 3) UNIX systems typically used Ctrl-C for interrupt (not copy) since the 1960s. Why “C”? The “C” stands for “Cancel”. 4) In fact, even before UNIX, Ctrl-C was the ASCII standard for “End of Text” (not copy) since 1963. Commonly used in many systems (including TOPS 10). 5) Linux and modern macOS come from the UNIX heritage. Therefore “Ctrl-C” should never work in a Mac terminal. That would be fundamentally broken if it did. What @ThePrimeagen is trying to do here is shoehorn modern Windows shortcuts into a UNIX system where those shortcuts are used for something else.
ThePrimeagen@ThePrimeagen

without googling, i still cannot figure out how to copy and paste on a mac into: 1. the provided Terminal app (which sucks) 2. Ghostty. C-V does nothing, C-v goes into escape insertion (expected). I refuse to google this and it should just be obvious...

After all the times US plans have been leaked from our NATO allies, you think we'd get better results by committee, and letting it drag on until Trump terms out? I think Europe's current crop of leaders is out of ideas, and I'm glad we didn't consult them. I'm glad Trump acted on the threats made by IRGC diplomats, and I hope that Iranians will be free soon.

It's actually absurd how many Europeans fail to grasp that denying us the use of those bases for operations in Iran, which is a more immediate threat to Europe than to us, made even a lot of US fans of NATO wonder what we're doing in Europe anymore.
Andrea Junker@Strandjunker

US troops are not in Germany to protect Germany. They’re there because the US needs bases to conduct operations beyond the North American continent. If Trump withdraws them, he will harm the United States, not Germany. It’s absurd how many Americans fail to grasp this.

If you look at the pattern of 🇺🇸 military withdrawals from Europe it’s all assets geared to NATO operations, while it doesn’t touch its huge networks of bases and facilities key to 🇺🇸 non-NATO operations outside Europe. European nations could, conceivably, demand a corresponding reduction there.

@LawtonAver58308 The red button doesn't exist. It does nothing. There is only a blue button which you push to gamble your life and everyone else's. Pushing it is your choice. It's not everyone else's responsibility to save you.

@praesto04 @dirk_fasshauer - Protein quality, 15% (is high for the US due to high meat production) - Food safety 10% It's not bad to measure this but it's not quite what has been discussed and there is some nuance in what exactly is measured (legislation over outcomes, etc.)

@praesto04 @dirk_fasshauer The study doesn't really measure quality as the discussion has been held. It consists of and is weighed - Non-starchy foods in diet, 20% (Wheat is startchy.) - Nutritional recommendations, labelling, etc, 30% - Specific macronutrient availability, 25%

When America was attacked on 9/11, NATO members stood with us. In fact, more than 1,000 non-U.S. NATO service members paid the ultimate price in Afghanistan, never returning home to their families. When President Biden announced his decision to withdraw all U.S. forces on April 14, 2021, more than 6,000 non-U.S. NATO troops were still serving in Afghanistan, including approximately 1,300 from Germany. That total number of non-U.S. NATO service members was roughly double the number of American service members serving in Afghanistan in April that year. And some NATO allies remained to the last possible moment. Amid the chaos of the evacuation at Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport, Norwegians ran the field hospital used to treat the 13 Americans killed in a suicide bombing on August 26. As late as August 17 that year, nearly 800 NATO civilian personnel remained in Afghanistan for essential tasks, including air traffic control, logistics, communications, and security during the withdrawal of U.S. forces. They stood with us to the end. Some talk big. Some put their lives on the line to honor their commitments. That is what many of our European allies did. They were true friends and allies to us. The way we are treating them now is shameful and self-defeating. From the 2021 file: thedispatch.com/article/afghan…

This has been Kharkiv's reality for 3 days now. Jet powered drones and regular ones are basically non-stop attacking us. Not sure if there was like a fucking hour without an air raid siren. Most people seem to feel rather debilitated, me included. #RussiaIsATerroristState
