Way back when I was an intern for @profgalloway, I gave this presentation on crypto/DeFi. I was a big believer. It was compelling at the time. But today I looked at it again. And WOW is it flawed + misleading. Everything I got wrong about crypto, a thread🧵

A twitter user mentioned the mobile app for their “smart” wifi connected power plug was requesting their location. The app has more then 1 million downloads. Curious, I ordered the ‘Meross’ branded device and it’s just arrived. What will we find? Let’s dig in ..🧵

I went to lunch and set up a macro that just replies to this guy with a list of fortune cookie style replies and he’s been responding to it every 5 minutes or less for almost 2 hours now lol.

@fuckyouiquit I got fired when my dad died, I threw my apron in my manager's face and told her I was going to find her fiance and bang him (in more colorful language). I did.

It wasn't until I'd *taught* algorithms a few times that I finally understood why sorting is in the CS curriculum. Unfortunately, most curricula don't explain this! It is NOT because sorting is an important algorithm to learn to implement...
Ryan Winchester@ryanwinchester

As a 41 year-old software developer do you know how many times I've had to manually implement QuickSort? Zero. Maybe we should test for more useful skills like taking a slow SQL query and optimizing it.

So, proving once again that only the good die young, Pat Robertson is dead at 93. When he finally retired from running the Christian Broadcasting Network two years ago, I published a list of ten of the most outrageous things he ever said. Enjoy! religiondispatches.org/as-pat-roberts…

BREAKING: Republicans melt down like absolute freaks as they find a new target for their paranoia and bigotry: Kohl's. The popular department store is under fire from MAGA for selling cute little Pride Month clothing for children — the kind of utterly harmless inclusive thing that now regularly sends conservatives into a furor. Republicans have already declared war on Disney, Bud Light, and Target. Kohl's joins those companies as MAGA maniacs froth and screech about a Pride onesie and rainbow-colored tutu because they think it's "indoctrination." They've even begun to bombard Kohl's with one star reviews. The pathetic outburst is just further proof that Republicans are completely consumed by culture war nonsense. Meanwhile, Democrats are the serious political adults in America focused on better wages, healthcare, and fighting climate change. Retweet if you think that Republicans live in an insane, weird bubble!

🧵 A LOT of supposed ADHD traits aren’t actually ADHD traits. They’re really just traits that develop as a consequence of having the disorder.  Some of these traits are coping mechanisms, others are trauma responses. Here’s a few examples: 1/

@hralperta Unknown to practically everyone, Google has a proximity operator. It is imperfect; but valuable when a search returns many results. AROUND(n) where "n" specifies the distance in # of words. AROUND must be all caps and don't leave a space between parens and query term. Like this +

There is no such thing as “military-grade” spyware. This is a made-up term that has no meaning. Same for “military-grade” encryption. Call it sophisticated, call it government spyware. But don’t call it “military-grade.”
