@sanchez_m_m Is it worse than Forever? Because a lot of girls in my year read that when we were 12 and it was fine. If it’s healthy and consensual sex then is that so bad for teenagers to read? I’m a bit confused as to whether it’s a children’s book or YA, if it’s YA then what’s the problem?

I recently read the ARC of a book I've been REALLLLLLY excited about... until I reached an explicit on page s3x scene.... in a *CHILDREN'S NOVEL*!!! I messaged the author (who I know slightly via social media) and asked if they were open to hearing my concerns about why this isn't a YA novel as currently written, and they graciously received my feedback and said they'd pass it along to their publisher. I hope they do! The recent Sibylline situation is proof that readers don't want explicit s3x in YA stories, and I hope publishers will take notice and learn from that novel that currently has a 2 star rating on Amazon and Goodreads. If the back book blurb describes a book as having a "high heat" romance, IT'S NOT FOR KIDS! If a book has an open door and steamy s3x scene that goes on for multiple pages, IT'S NOT FOR KIDS!!! These books should be on adult shelves in bookstores, not the general YA section where kids as young as 12 are likely to pick them up and read them with no clue of what they're about to be exposed to without their consent. With the horrors of what's going on in the world right now with the epstn files I am appalled that children's books are no longer a safe space for kids to be kids. Authors, we can do better! Publisher's, you can do better! Readers and reviewers, you hold the power! *In full disclosure, the ARC of this novel is said to be for ages 16 and up and both YA/NA audiences, but it is still being sold as a CHILDREN's book with mature content!

As a Professional working in Secondary Care NHS Mental Health Services, as a Specialist - this👇 new change to the NHS referral system will cost lives! How can @NHSEngland think this is the best approach? I see so many flaws @greatnhsheist @WeCareAboutMH

@MikScarlet Yes, I noticed a huge diff between Germany and the UK. I’ve also noticed a difference between ethnicities in my local area, POC are usually helpful, and if driving stop to let me cross. White men, not so much.

Tried to go out wheeling but I don't think I'm well enough yet. Pushing was impossible, although the sea of tourists didn't help. Funny how different nationalities react to my wheelchair very differently.

Friends and family, it is getting warmer and you may be tempted to go walking in the beautiful Welsh countryside. So, please be careful where you put your feet because these little fellows have now hatched and may be hiding in the grass and you really do not want to upset their mum or dad.

@douglass_meghan I think it’s possible to write stories with that potential, but I have doubts that any current media will last for centuries. There’s too much, everything disappears quickly, nothing has chance to become embedded in the collective consciousness.

Do you think it’s possible to write new fairytales that will one day be as widely known and loved as the classics are now?

@zbogus77 @MalazofWesteros I’ve only got up to book 7, but each book has its own main character. Overall, based on my theories for the rest of the series, it’s Icarium.

If you think ASOIAF fans are insufferable when talking about who the main character is, wait until you hear about Malazan. At least there's only 3 options in ASOIAF, in Malazan I've seen people have legitimate arguments for 15 different characters being the main.

@stephenRB4 About ten bookcases. Plus a few piles. And boxes here and there. And then there’s the kindle, but there’s some overlap with the physical TBR.

Just added it up and my current to be read (TBR) list stands at 40 books. What’s yours?

@Guildofbros @TheTransTroll @adamndsmith wheelchair user so won’t be boxing any time soon. I do regularly wheel around extremely dangerous areas, including after dark. I’m more worried about the drug gangs, drug drivers, and criminals. I’m not remotely worried about women going about living their lives.

One TERF complained that, theoretically, a trans person could take part in this course. As a result, the entire course has been shut down. Just another example of transphobia harming women
