A surprising portion of employees at all startups don’t know how to think about their equity. Would be great to see more tools / resources publicly available on this

My take for @RiddleRussia with a few takeaways on why February 21st will mark a new reality for Russian foreign policy for at least the next decade. Thread 1/7 ridl.io/en/putin-in-th…

Can someone explain what tangible economic impact russia invasion of part of ukraine will create on rest of world? Increasingly thinking this is a market overreaction to risk off broadly but not an expert on european war dynamics.

@rynonl @levelsio Def. Only real benefit is “liquid” options, but this kind of comp is not uncommon at public FAANGs

Just saw a job post for smart contract engineer with $300K/year + $450K/year in equity in tokens = $750K/year 🤯 Regardless if you like it or not Web3 is easily 2x to 5x what Silicon Valley pays web3.career/senior-solidit…

@RaoulGMI Somehow through all the chaos, virtually 100% of NFT projects and DAOs are run on Discord

Opinion - Discord is unusable. Endless feed of stuff, all the time, everything gets lost, zero curation, cant track anything, like 1000 people shouting at each other in a bar, like Twitter without a basic algorithm. Urgh! We cant built web 3 communities on this...

@RaoulGMI Some follow up on why big communities don’t work for them - there’s a cap on server benefits after a small number of nitro boosts (25-30 I think?). Hence the incentive for people to upgrade to nitro for a huge fully upgraded server is almost zero.

@RaoulGMI From a P&L perspective though, I’d wager that discords income doesn’t come from big communities (I’d guess they’re loss leaders). they’re not incentivized to invest in solutions for this cohort hence the friction

@nikillinit Have never understood the % of royalty play with music nfts. Most artists make close to zero on royalties anyways. Owning some very small % of a song that gets you $10 a year seems useless. Might as well just donate to the artist

how come NFTs seem to be targeting music artists first for % of royalties when the back catalog of music is so valuable (aka. labels have a much tighter grip) vs. something like youtube/content where maybe NFT holders can get a % of adsense dollars instead

@ramannoodlez Also - even very engaged managers don’t see all of their reports strong moments. Coaching your team to share their successes upward (along with why they think things went well) is such an import career accelerator for ICs

@ramannoodlez Helping reports develop this skill is something I spend a lot of time on. Having great, honest signal from your team is invaluable, especially as you get more senior

Here’s the problem with 1:1s as an engineering manager: Most engineers don’t come to 1:1s with set agendas, so it turns into you talking for >30% of the time. 🤔 As an EM, how do you make the most of 1:1 time for your direct report?
