Then a small voice said, “Is this… Jaden’s mom?” My stomach dropped. “Yes. Is everything okay?” There was a pause. “I’m his friend,” the voice said. “He told me to call you if something felt wrong.” My heart started racing. “What do you mean?” Another pause. Longer this time. Then “He hasn’t been answering his phone. And earlier he said he was really tired… like, really tired.” I didn’t ask any more questions. I grabbed my keys and drove straight to my son’s friend’s house.

@miles_commodore Try to be patient and listen to every word like it’s the first time you heard it. Soon they will be gone and you’ll realized how much you forgot or didn’t listen to and they won’t be around to ask. I sure wish I’d wrote all those stories down!
