You’re either a 49er at your core, or you are not. Premium talent and athletic skill are rare. But desire to fight to the death every play is even more rare.
There are many guys around the league that can make acrobatic catches, rack up yards, run stunning routes, make a DB look slow. But there are only a few who can consistently pull a ball in on 3rd and 18, knowing a big hit from a safety is coming, when the game is on the line. There’s only a few who are willing to block a defender 40 feet out of bounds into a Gatorade table, or drag DBs into the endzone after taking a solid punch to the nuts, fueled by sheer rage and defiance.
You’re either a fit for this team, or you’re not. Those who aren’t are either shown the door or quit on their own because they don’t belong here.
I’d rather have 53+ guys willing to go to war for one another than a roster filled with A-list “elite” celebrities. I rather have guys who sleep in an oxygen tube to speed up healing on a broken ankle, just so they get back in the battle. Or guys that limp out on the field with a pulled hamstring, to protect their QB. I’d rather have guys willing to rip up a shoulder or an elbow rather than quit, or guys who carry twice the load at their position to make up for the guys who are down. I’d rather have a guy who won’t come off the field until the tendons pop off the back of his leg, because his teammates need him.
Give me guys like 54, 71, 13, 23, and 85. And give me a 15.
Give me dawgs over divas every time, all day long.

The Tale of Two Stories: Earlier this #49ers season, Jauan Jennings was labeled “about the money” — struggled early and took heat from fans. Brandon Aiyuk had everyone hopeful, waiting on his return. Fast forward ⏩ Jennings is playing hurt, making clutch plays, and is one of the HEARTS of this team. Aiyuk? Nowhere to be found. Completely erased. One of the wildest 10+ week switch-ups you’ll ever see in the NFL. 👀🔥

Low-frequency electromagnetic fields can degrade collagen, weaken tendons, and cause soft-tissue damage at levels regulators call "safe."
We have a real world case study proving this:
An NFL team whose practice facility sits next to a massive electrical substation.

@bryarea Recruiting high schoolers to play at Tennessee is not the same as “the talent acquisition process” for the San Francisco Giants
English

Vitello has an insane recruiting background.
Posey has talked about wanting to surround himself with people who can grow in their positions and pick up on some of his blind spots.
You have to wonder if part of Posey’s plan with Vitello is to make him a figurehead of the talent acquisition proces, especially in the drafts.
English

@bryarea What kind of “Tennessee brass” are u talking about dude
English

I’ve been listening to some Tennessee brass talk about the potential of Vitello leaving. Here are some interesting tidbits:
- Drew Gilbert is probably his favorite player that he’s coached
- Absolutely hates losing, gets genuinely gutted by it
- INCREDIBLY well-respected. Everyone I’ve listened to agrees that the transition won’t be easy in various ways, but also share full confidence that he’ll figure it out and be successful
- Has had a relationship with Buster for a while, huge level of mutual respect

@gggiants My son is named Gorkys- doesn’t play as well now as it did 8 years ago

@will_kratt @Breezy_7_ @GiantHotTakes If I was Tony I’d take this job 10/10 times. He doesn’t have much to lose- worst case he’s a big league manager for a year then gets another job. Best case he ends up being a manager till he wants to retire
English

The more I see of Vitello, the more I see Kapler 😅

Say whatever you will about Tony V, but he sure looks like a fun dude to play for
English

@EJames342 @Breezy_7_ @GiantHotTakes It’s a whole different dynamic getting college players to buy in to the “culture” big leaguers don’t operate the same way
English

@gabagool40 @Breezy_7_ @GiantHotTakes Exactly. SF is a veteran heavy team. I don't think Chapman, Adames, Devers, Webb, Ray are worried about their name not being on the line up card. And playing by their own rules. He controlled playing time in college.
English

@Breezy_7_ @GiantHotTakes He’s good at getting 18-22 year olds fired up for a 52 game season. I don’t know how he’ll handle 162 games coaching guys almost his age
English

@gabagool40 @GiantHotTakes Me either, and he was the highest paid coach in college baseball on his way to statue level status with the school. He wasted it all for a 50/50 shot in the bigs where if he doesn’t do well the first few years they’ll want his head, and he’ll make maybe 1 million more a year. Smh
