Spare me the lectures about Donald Trump not serving in the military. Barack Obama never served in the military either. Yet the same people repeating that talking point were silent when Obama was ordering strikes and military operations in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia. For eight years those operations happened around the world. And there was not one mention of Obama not serving in the military. Half the people crying about Trump not serving never served themselves and wouldn’t volunteer either. And while we’re at it — Trump literally took a bullet while campaigning for this country. Obama made the Iran deal that sent billions in sanctions relief. That’s the difference.

Broadcasters that are running hoaxes and news distortions - also known as the fake news - have a chance now to correct course before their license renewals come up. The law is clear. Broadcasters must operate in the public interest, and they will lose their licenses if they do not. And frankly, changing course is in their own business interests since trust in legacy media has now fallen to an all time low of just 9% and are ratings disasters. The American people have subsidized broadcasters to the tune of billions of dollars by providing free access to the nation’s airwaves. It is very important to bring trust back into media, which has earned itself the label of fake news. When a political candidate is able to win a landslide election victory after in the face of hoaxes and distortions, there is something very wrong. It means the public has lost faith and confidence in the media. And we can’t allow that to happen. Time for change!

@ccarneyrichman @SenMikeLee Incorrect. That's just the application. Once you submit, your application goes through a process to verify that the applicant is a citizen. They don't simply put your name on the rolls, they check you out.

That's not true. To register under the HAVA statute, all you need is a utility bill. Illegal aliens and foreigners, even from other countries, can register by mail without proving their citizenship. It’s very easy for them to undetectably lie about being citizens and get registered this way, but requiring proof of citizenship would stop them from doing so.

When someone who is not an American citizen casts a vote in our country, it’s taking away the power of YOUR vote. It’s taking something that doesn’t belong to them. Something that belongs to you. Pass the SAVE America Act.

@ccarneyrichman @SenMikeLee You're leaving out the part where you have to be registered to vote, and that the elections clerk for each district verifies that every name on that list is in fact eligible to vote. Non-citizens do not vote in national elections, this act serves no valid purpose.
