GitHub is just going to crap lately. Yesterday git clone was downloading at sub 1MB rates... took almost an hour to clone Godot, instead of the seconds it should have taken. Today, just browsing an image inside a repository led me to this joy:

@mrmaxm Yeah, same here. Think I've made it to his 3rd phase every time, but then he just scales up way too much and hits way too hard. Meanwhile you're dealing with x number of bleeds and other debuff cards.

I updated the linked article, you can tweak the params to the raytracer, especially param 3 which seems to enable denoising, while param 2 increases secondary light bounces. The denoising makes a HUGE difference, especially over time. But DAMN are they buggy!

@neetkingduck I have a feeling it's because I co-op and the way the power scale breaks this SOB. All other bosses fall before me, but in coop this prick wipes the floor with me all the time.

Ok... really screwed up with the Godot Pathtracing video, have it all sorted now and I should have something up tomorrow morning. Sometimes I get burned for doing videos on subjects with literally no documentation or materials! ;)

@JNavok As a guy that covers gamedev news and whose busiest week is normally GDC... yeah, I agree. I think a big part of it is Unity and Unreal moving announcements from GDC to their own developer conferences. Plus the rise of AI and previously Web3/NFTs clouding the airwaves.

The story of GDC 2026 is the lack of stories at GDC 2026. In the last decade we saw GDC be the launching point for Stadia, UEFN, and myriad new technologies from Unity, Nvidia, and more. This year, crickets. Part of this is companies have moved their news toward their own channels, not dissimilar to how E3 is no longer a thing. E.g. Epic's stuff is now at UnrealFest. But we used to see a lot more innovation and startups showing off new things at GDC. We saw plenty of small press releases. Nothing really happening this year; just a smattering. I suspect that this is more indicative of where the business is going than anything else. Content companies will continue to be focused on game development (GDC is not a content-first show), new tools are all in the AI space (no one has a fancy new occlusion or lighting tech to show off; the most interesting thing I saw on Monday was at the @supercell event with the AI animation editor from @Uthana_Inc), and creator platforms like Roblox don't see GDC as its target audience. I don't think this is indicative of GDC as a show; I think this shows the state of an industry whose future is in AI tooling but whose present state is driven by the weird combination of stasis in the old business model and the platformerization of the next generation of consumers (Roblox) on the other end.
