A boomer without wealth at this point is largely retarded. Every system that existed during their working career allowed them to have excess wealth, that many of the dumbest spent on random nonsense instead of saving. Now they see their friends as super wealthy and demand more handouts. Now, the system that existed/exists is awful and should’ve never been put into place, as it makes life impossible for younger and future generations, but if you are elderly without money you wasted the easiest opportunity of wealth accumulation in human history.
Fugitive Caesar@ThomBrady5

the angriest Boomers seem to be the ones who don't measure up to their peers. They don't have as much money and status. So they compete by trying to MOG young men who had 30+ years less to accumulate wealth and status, and who have been locked out of asset inflation since 2008.

Americans will look you dead in the eye and tell you the American system is superior to China’s because we get to be represented by people like this instead of competent bureaucrats
Acyn@Acyn

Senator Fetterman defends President Trump’s statement about not thinking about the financial condition of the American people: What he really was say—he did say is like, you know, I’m really thinking that we can’t ever let Iran building a building a bomb. That’s the essence of what that is.

When China suffered great famine in the end of 1950s. US denied China from buying grains. It even spreaded the words that Mao allowed it to happen and tens of millions of Chinese died. Chinese people couldn't do anything but endure. They learned that they can only rely on themselves. Fast forward to today, now US-led World Bank is accusing China for hoarding food and fertiliser. The irony.

Americans are about to learn that "self-sufficiency" is a very theoretical concept at best, assumes a massive reduction in standard of living for most of society, an unprecedented economic collapse, and even then probably wouldnt actually cut it Tough summer coming

Trump just broke the record for the largest weekly release ever from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve — even bigger than Biden’s after Russia invaded Ukraine. At this rate, we’re on pace to run out by September.

My dad worked for the parks department one summer, every day his coworkers would individually buy the same pop and candy bars from 7/11. My dad was like “hey I could just buy a pack from Safeway and it’d be cheaper” and they called him college boy and wouldn’t do it

I feel like not enough ppl understand this aspect of the justice system—how long ppl wait for trials, & how that ruins their lives. A kid I know wasted YEARS of his teens, into his twenties, locked up awaiting trial in STL County for something he didn’t do. They stole his youth

A Portland mother was falsely charged with theft. Misidentified because she and the suspect are both Black. She waited months for a public defender. 1,280 people in her county were waiting too. They lost jobs. Lost housing. Lost custody of their children. theguardian.com/us-news/2026/a…

Office life is basically heaven for olds because everyone has to kiss their ass. Of course they want to be there. If you’re a younger guy you’re best served in an environment where your work quality matters more than interpersonal relationships where you’re at a disadvantage.

talking to young people who wish their jobs were fully remote makes me feel like i’m losing my mind. you’re at the point in life where you could most benefit from in-person relationship and knowledge building … but … you wanna get some errands done,

But wait, it's actually even worse- Since total return data started in 1988 (this includes dividends): Capital has outperformed labor by 2,460% (25.6x) If wages had kept pace with the total stock market return, the average hourly wage would be $828 per hour Yes, really.

Since 1980: The stock market has increased 16.3 times faster than the average hourly wage If wages had kept pace with the S&P 500, the average hourly wage would be $523 per hour

Good morning Since the end of the gold standard, the S&P 500 has increased *8x faster* than the average hourly wage If wages had kept up with the SPX, the average hourly wage would be $240/hr This isn’t just an economic disparity; it’s a systemic absurdity

It’s legally impossible to defend yourself against a cop, on or off duty. You will be killed or charged and imprisoned if you survive, the cop will face no consequences and they can effectively kill whoever they want.

turning middle class retirement funds into exit liquidity by changing the rules so the weight in the index will be based on SpaceX’s total implied market cap, not the actual # shares available to the public which will magnify forced holdings in SpaceX by a factor of 10 btw
Chris Powers@fortworthchris

Apparently ~160 people in Austin, TX may make $100M+ from the SpaceX IPO. 12 will clear $1B. Don't sleep on Austin - that's a lot of capital formation, very quickly.
