A doctor was killed by patient relatives and all he got was a necrology message? No strike until his killers are caught? No protest? Nothing? Okay

A House Officer wore his white coat, left home to the hospital, attended to patients, and ended up getting murdered by patient relatives. The same white coat he wore to provide humanitarian services, he got shrouded in it.

Why do people keep going to hospitals if they do not respect the doctors???? If you are sick and you think Nigerian doctors are incompetent please go to your babalawo in peace. It’s so sad to see how abusive Nigerians can be, this calls for an indefinite strike.

Assaulting a healthcare worker should be punishable by law. This madness is getting out of hand.

In the last three weeks we've lost three doctors. A consultant to lassa fever. A resident to a pregnancy complication and now A house officer to patient assault. Nothing on the timeline. Nothing on the news! No freaking outbreak! And I'm not surprised. A thousand doctors could die and people would move on as if it's normal. We put our lives on the line but nobody gives a shit about us, as our lives is being treated as expendable. Something has to give.

Me (to Patient): Any history of TB or long-term illness? Patient: No, Doctor. I am very healthy. Never even had a fever. Me: Are you married? Patient: No, unmarried. ​(Unit Rounds - 1 Hour Later) ​Me (to Consultant): Sir, this is a 24-year-old unmarried male, no prior co-morbids, came with a 2-day history of cough. Consultant (looking at the X-ray): This looks like a chronic fibrocavitary lesion. Priyam, you sure there’s no old history of TB? Patient (Interrupting): Actually, Sir, I took 6 months of TB meds back in 2022. My wife is waiting outside with the old CT scans and biopsy reports. Me: 👇

Nigerians won't bat an eye paying a celebrity tailor 1m for a bespoke attire. They'd happily pay a lawyer 500k for consultation, a lawyer that's not yet a SAN oo. They'd pay a photographer 2m for a 1 day event, and 150k for a 15mins studio session and 5 pictures. They'd pay a travel consultant 200k for a 10 minutes over the phone consultation. They'd pay house agents 10k each to see one property. They'd pay an MC 500k to speak at their father's burial. But God forbid that the hospital demands that they pay to see a consultant doctor, then all hell breaks loose. That's where they draw the line.
