@Crypto_CaveCC @NOELreports Reported hardware cost is about €8k as reported by Forbes, which is very cheap for this tech. This is purely teleoperated and not autonomous (thus arguably not really a robot).

At ICRA last week we published a paper on designing more efficient transit networks by combing AI tools and classical methods. arxiv.org/abs/2404.05894

@BiologicalWoma2 @elonmusk In a big outage isn't it an issue that gas stations run on electricity for the pumps?

The standard Tesla Model Y now has a 320 mile range!
Although it is rear-wheel-drive, the precision of Tesla’s electric motors means it still has great traction on snow & ice with all-season tires.

@fact_factoid @muxacka @ToewsWenda @SeanAPereira @Jay_Baldonado So, let's destroy the planet because we don't want to do more than our own share? What about setting a good example?
English

@muxacka @ToewsWenda @SeanAPereira @Jay_Baldonado Right, unit the United States commits to such drastic measures, it's pointless for Canada.

It was a great meeting with a record-breaking attendance by both researchers, robots and institutions.

Our @RoboPI_UF group attended the 2024 Marine Robotics Workshop and Field Trials at the Bellairs Research Institute of Barbados. It was great to see so many amazing designs and ideas for solving various marine robotics problems. Some great talks and robot demos too 🤖

Big personal news: after 7 wonderful years leading ML at TRI (@ToyotaResearch), I'm thrilled to be joining the early-stage deep tech VC firm Calibrate Ventures (@CalibrateVC) as a Partner! I will stay involved at Stanford as a professor and at TRI as an advisor, as there is still a lot of exciting research to do.
Why VC? I believe AI is ready to get its hands dirty and move from the web to the real world. We are about to see an explosion of embodied intelligence startups across many previously inaccessible applications. I am joining Calibrate Ventures to discover and accelerate these new opportunities using my AI expertise, network, and technical perspective. If you are curious about why and how, then check out my personal blog post adriengaidon.com/posts/2024/02/… and the Calibrate announcement calibratevc.com/blog/calibrate…
Do you agree that now is the time to put AI to work in the real world? Will we see many successful startups or a winner-take-all EGI (Embodied General Intelligence)? Are you building or investing in that space? Let me know what you think!

@3YearLetterman @elonmusk Based on the OECD's data, Canada is the most educated country globally, with 56.71% of adults meeting the OECD criteria. Japan has the second-highest percentage of 51.44%, followed by Israel with 50.92%.

@elonmusk I’ll tell you what it isn’t - Swiss cheese. I’m still not convinced Sweden is a real country, and all Sweden is known for for it is chocolate, incomplete cheese, bad beer, and neutrality. America, by contrast, is the most educated and populous country on earth

@koremb_canada The strengths of South Korea and Canada are really nicely aligned, and the ambassador was a truly impressive personage. It was a real pleasure to host the delegation at SAIC-Montreal.
