I had some trouble setting up Better Auth, but now it looks good. Connecting all these tools can sometimes be a bit of a mess - in my case, Better Auth with Drizzle via PlanetScale + Hyperdrive so everything is compatible with Cloudflare.

Moved an app to Cloudflare from self-hosting because of performance and the need for high availability. And since I'm using Cloudflare stuff like R2, I can simplify my life with bindings. Also, @PlanetScale via Hyperdrive is insane.

we may be in a world of skills, MCP and better tool calling, but knowledge cut-offs are still back in 2025: Jan for Gemini 3, May for Opus, Aug for GPT 5.2. makes introducing new things hard. I’ve had models actively fight me when building on TanStack and PlanetScale.

@geiselmann I'm aware! not everything fits in a tweet: it wanted to swap to Neon entirely. (I don't vibe code though and prefer a robust planning stage, so I corrected it. It tried pretty hard though!)

@elithrar 100% agree, but using Neon‘s serverless driver with PlanetScale is even in the docs: planetscale.com/docs/postgres/…

specifically: TanStack has moved quickly but there is just so little knowledge in the corpus. Opus has tried to tell me that PlanetScale doesn’t offer Postgres and planned to install the serverless driver of a competitor (!).
