I’m tired. I need a break from twit. This red blue thing got me heated. I know people would just hit red as people will self preserve unless it’s a close family or friend. I gave the same question to the nurses at my clinic as well as asked other patients I sit next to in the chair. Out of 17 people, 2 said blue. Everyone else said red and also ask why would you even put yourself in danger. The oldest said those who press blue is putting unecessary grief on others. And the man is a man of God. Assuming no possible coordination: If everybody was rational, we would all individually pick red & be safe without needing coordination, trusting that the sum of individual interests would lead to the most optimized outcome. Except that many humans are irrational & dogmatic, and driven by idealistic / empathetic concerns, would pick blue, even if that requires coordination which is not guaranteed & which puts them as risk. Knowing this, even if you’re initially inclined to vote red, the actual moral choice, to avoid the death of those willingly putting their lives at risk, is to vote blue to maximize the chances of saving everybody. In short, if you know that others are not perfectly rational agents, to save them you have to go along with their irrationality, which is counter intuitive.

@waitbutwhy Am i missing something? The way you framed it, EVERYBODY who pressed Blue is an Idiot. Because you basically have a choice between (Red=100% survival) and Blue (You only survive when more than 50% press blue). Anybody who doesn't understand this and presses blue is the problem.
