Today, I begin unfollowing conservative rage-baiters. I already unfollowed the ones who got paid for the diet coke thing and didn't disclose it. Liars need to pretend to be conservative to get conservatives to believe them.

@DKH013 Here is the TLDR on the comments section: White people are the only skin color that are inherently bad because of their skin color. All other skin colors are inherently good because of their skin color. Flag man bad.

@nettermike Always a good time to remind the rest of the country that there are more Republicans in California than in any other state. We’re not all crazy. And for the predictable“you don’t have to live there” types, I have 2 elderly, barely ambulatory parents here.

Valero just paid a $1.1 billion breakup fee to leave California. When a company is willing to absorb a billion-dollar write-down just to exit a market, that’s not a routine business decision. It’s a signal that the operating environment no longer works. Valero is shutting down its Benicia refinery by April 2026 rather than continue operating under California’s current regulatory and economic framework. That facility processes roughly 145,000 barrels per day, about 8.6% of California’s gasoline supply. Around 400 jobs are lost. Local tax revenue takes a direct hit. With Phillips 66 also exiting, nearly 10% of California’s in-state refining capacity is coming offline in a short window. The analysts are already modeling the consequences. Economists at University of California, Davis estimate a $1.20 per gallon increase by summer 2026. Translation: your usual 15 gallon fill up goes from $70 to $95+. Fun. Stanford Energy also warns that removing this much capacity materially increases the risk of severe supply disruptions and extreme price spikes. Here’s the core issue: We are taking essential energy infrastructure offline while demand is still growing. AI data centers, electrification, and industrial reshoring are increasing energy intensity, not reducing it. The idea that demand is about to disappear is a fantasy. When supply is forced offline in a high-demand system, the outcome is not transition. It is volatility. And consumers ultimately pay the difference.

BREAKING: France’s President Macron calls for the EU to activate its "most potent trade weapon" against the US after President Trump's tariff threat over Greenland. Macron is now calling for the use of the EU's "anti-coercion instrument." If used against the US, it would restrict US access to the EU market, potentially blocking US banks from EU procurement and targeting US tech giants. This trade weapon has never been used before.

Canadian Prime Minister Mike Carney openly says, while in China, that Canada’s partnership with Beijing puts the country in a strong position for what the “new world order.” Carney adds that he is “heartened by the leadership” of China and views the relationship as increasingly important on the global stage. He goes further, suggesting Canada and China can become “strategic partners,” even extending cooperation to matters of security.

Yesterday a quasi-judicial body in Italy fined @Cloudflare $17 million for failing to go along with their scheme to censor the Internet. The scheme, which even the EU has called concerning, required us within a mere 30 minutes of notification to fully censor from the Internet any sites a shadowy cabal of European media elites deemed against their interests. No judicial oversight. No due process. No appeal. No transparency. It required us to not just remove customers, but also censor our 1.1.1.1 DNS resolver meaning it risked blacking out any site on the Internet. And it required us not just to censor the content in Italy but globally. In other words, Italy insists a shadowy, European media cabal should be able to dictate what is and is not allowed online. That, of course, is DISGUSTING and even before yesterday’s fine we had multiple legal challenges pending against the underlying scheme. We, of course, will now fight the unjust fine. Not just because it’s wrong for us but because it is wrong for democratic values. In addition, we are considering the following actions: 1) discontinuing the millions of dollars in pro bono cyber security services we are providing the upcoming Milano-Cortina Olympics; 2) discontinuing Cloudflare’s Free cyber security services for any Italy-based users; 3) removing all servers from Italian cities; and 4) terminating all plans to build an Italian Cloudflare office or make any investments in the country. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. While there are things I would handle differently than the current U.S. administration, I appreciate @JDVance taking a leadership role in recognizing this type of regulation is a fundamental unfair trade issue that also threatens democratic values. And in this case @ElonMusk is right: #FreeSpeech is critical and under attack from an out-of-touch cabal of very disturbed European policy makers. I will be in DC first thing next week to discuss this with U.S. administration officials and I’ll be meeting with the IOC in Lausanne shortly after to outline the risk to the Olympic Games if @Cloudflare withdraws our cyber security protection. In the meantime, we remain happy to discuss this with Italian government officials who, so far, have been unwilling to engage beyond issuing fines. We believe Italy, like all countries, has a right to regulate the content on networks inside its borders. But they must do so following the Rule of Law and principles of Due Process. And Italy certainly has no right to regulate what is and is not allowed on the Internet in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Brazil, India or anywhere outside its borders. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT FIGHT AND WE WILL WIN!!!

This is how the trick works. You take a few culture-war headlines, bundle them into a caricature, then use that caricature to justify eliminating a small, broad public good. CPB funding averaged about $1.60 per American annually and went largely to local stations, especially smaller and rural ones that rely on that baseline support to exist at all. So congratulations on winning the argument against a straw man while real communities lose real services.

@Carol_Kay1234 @chrismartenson Carol, this may help explain why some doubt the narrative: A .30-06 round that slows to barely the speed of sound has the same energy as a typical handgun round point-blank. So CK's neck deflected the same energy as if a pistol was pressed against his neck and fired.

@chrismartenson Can someone explain to me (like I’m 5) what’s happening here? You conducted experiments which refute the narrative that CK was shot by TR and bullet lodged in his neck? Are you suggesting TR was not the shooter but was set up? Who set him up? How? I’m late to the party, sorry.

Well, folks, my team and I failed. We tried SoOooo hard to get a .30-06 round to stop in a simulated human neck. We couldn't. Heck, even when shooting into a pig humerus bone, we couldn't get a round to stop. More embarrassingly, we couldn't even get one to meaningfully defect. After our most recent round of experiments, we're now up to 55 out of 55 rounds that went clean through without doing anything more exciting than blowing out our backstops. Whether going through muscle only, or bone + muscle, it didn't matter. Boom! Straight through. Skin, bone, muscle, gristle, fat....all of it. I'm so sorry in advance to all the self-described experts out there who will be disappointed by these real-world challenges to their 'bullets do weird things' religion. I can only invite you to conduct your own experiments and prove me/us wrong. peakprosperity.com/every-30-06-ro…

@chrismartenson Typical min. bullet weight in .30 cal is 150 gr (non-frangible). Typical speed of sound is 1150 feet/sec. 150gr @ 1150fps = 441 ft-lbs or about 600 joules. More than the muzzle energy of most 9mm, .40S&W, .45acp. CK's neck stopped the equiv. of a point-blank auto pistol shot.

My team and I were trying to confirm the null hypothesis, which is that CK was shot with a .30-06 from the stated position on the roof of the Losee building. To confirm this hypothesis, we should have been able to get a .30-06 round top stop in a simulated human neck. Even when we thoroughly stacked the deck in favor of that null outcome (by purposely shooting thicker muscle masses with thick bones in them), we were unable to reproduce that behavior. Not even close. Because we used fresh backstops, we can also state that we didn't even get one shot to meaningfully deflect even slightly. They all went straight through. We repeated the tests 55 times with 5 different .30-06 loads (see below). Every round was cataloged, and videos were taken from 2 directions, with one camera at 260 fps and the other at 460 fps. So we are in the position of rejecting the null hypothesis and accepting the other, which was that the shot that killed CK was not taken with a .30-06 from that position. This is how experiments are conducted scientifically.

My fellow Christians: watch out for Operation "Shabbat Shalom." That's the push to encourage you to stop going to church on Sunday & switch to the Jewish sabbath on Saturday. This is heresy. Christians began observing Sunday as the "Lord's Day" to commemorate Jesus' resurrection in the 1st century.

Most people dunking on Michael Dell’s wife have no idea who the man actually is. This dude became a billionaire at 26. Took his company private. Bought it back. Then built one of the greatest comeback stories in tech. And he did it with the same woman by his side since 1989! 36 years!! He was shy She was a baddie She pulled him out of his shell They built an empire together That’s the part Clown Twitter misses. Anyone can upgrade a car. It takes a different kind of man to stay loyal when you don’t have to. And it takes a different kind of partnership to survive: • Going public at 23 • Losing $100B in market cap • Getting written off by every analyst • Building it all back to $120B+ Meanwhile they're raising four kids and just donated $6.25B to children's causes. But Twitter's roasting her appearance at 60.... Imagine building a company from your dorm room… Hitting a billion before your brain is fully formed… Keeping the same partner for four decades… Raising a family… Becoming world-class philanthropists… And still getting roasted by dudes who haven't kissed a girl since middle school If you’re a founder: Let this be a reminder of what actually ages well. Skill. Character. Loyalty. Impact. 🥂 to The Dell Family You inspire us all
