Queen were remarkable. But I was really looking forward to the next two acts at Wembley. First off, David Bowie, with a great performance of Heroes in particular:

As we all look back at #LiveAid40, I would like to tell the story of my experience as a 20yo attending the Wembley show on 13 July 1985. These are never-before seen photos, taken on my Canon A1 with a 50mm lens from my position centre front in the crowd 🧵

@Kiaira06081465 @cheryl_kernot Not really, narcissists have no self awareness, hence the inability to see anyone other than themselves. It’s by definition.

There’s something a bit “off” about a psychologist, admitting she hasn’t personally assessed Erin Paterson, but jumping into print immediately to label her. Maybe a bit of narcissism on display- wanting to be noticed- here as well? smh.com.au/national/victo…

@MigraineTrust I’m a great lover of Angela Stanton’s @MigraineBook Facebook support group. Her protocol and extensive support on this group has given me back my life instead of spending time in bed with migraines. Thank you Angela! ❤️

duplication of databases; lit reviews; roundtables; conferences. It’s a feel good echo chamber. 2. Discuss opportunities to fund these vital programs with us. Email us: admin@indigenouspsych.com.au

When I started my business I developed unique Indigenous mental health & suicide prevention programs based on my PhD which showed different risk indicators for Indigenous suicide. I also developed content based on my clinical work with high risk Aboriginal clients and of course which incorporated culture bound syndromes & cultural learning style differences et etc I then decided to address WHOLE COMMUNITIES so I designed three separate programs -service provider skills intervention; community psych education (mums, dads, elders) and finally; selected & targeted interventions for at risk Aboriginal youth. These have never been funded by government. We have either had an occasional contract for service from underspend or delivered them for no cost. For about 9 yrs we managed to get a pretty skilled team of six people together to deliver these workshops-it’s all described in detail in chapter 8 of my memoir. As I have always believed in outcome evaluating everything that’s exactly what we did. This culminated in a publication in 2020 showing the impacts of these forums which is linked here: indigenouspsychservices.com.au/wp-content/upl… I spent the better part of 15 years meeting with politicians and government at their request and based on community and service providers begging for access to these programs; resulting in zero support for these programs. Three years ago we applied for federal government funding to target three of the highest risk communities in Australia and track this against the Indigenous suicide rate and more importantly train up local people to deliver these forums at an ongoing level into high risk families overtime I even donated the intellectual property of these programs as well as all my time into that Grant Surprise surprise we missed out on the funding It’s now been 10 years since we’ve been able to deliver these programs into high risk communities and it’s literally on a daily basis that I have a high risk Community begging my office to come out and help all while report after report including last weeks productivity report continues to scratch their heads at why the Indigenous suicide rate continues to rise every year. So why they continue to be excluded? Well, the two underpinning documents that drive all government funding because theyve been given the pretty importsnt job of determining the “best practice” in the country; have completely excluded all of my work including these critical programs and numerous other publications and Aust first work including my unique screening tools for at risk Aboriginal people. They continue to argue that there are no culturally & clinically validated screening tools and no uniquely codesigned programs that show risk reduction. It’s not defendable from a position of science. This means that those making funding decisions aren’t even aware of my work. Academics then dismiss and demean it because it’s excluded so there “must be something wrong with it” Enough is enough. Here are the two critical policy documents -they cost millions in govt funding and have not found any culturally informed data driven, best programs or assessments. 1. uwa.edu.au/about/-/media/… 2. gayaadhuwi.org.au/wp-content/upl… This one took 5 years to develop and didn’t even chat to me -but given it doesn’t even have a list of who they consulted with for that investment; I’m probably not alone. Butler then gifted them another $1.9M to implement the strategy. As a note our whole of community Indigenous suicide prevention programs were pitched for under $1.8M over 3 years-to literally track suicide risk reduction and ensure the mobilisation of these critical programs so locals could deliver them over time. What can you do? 1. email Mark Butler as we have many times & ask why my work continues to be excluded & why they continue to fund programs showing no evidence of suicide & mental health risk reduction into Aboriginal communities. We will also give you detail of the funding-about $200M to mostly the same cohort of orgs/2

@janellison I struggled with clinically diagnosed depression for 16 years. After 2 months on lion diet, the concept of depression didn't even compute. 2 years later, I'm living a life I didn't know was possible. Weeks upon weeks of actual happiness. Brain energy is absolutely the key!

I'm watching advance video testimonials from young people who participated in a keto for depression trial. These videos have me thinking: What if for some people, under some conditions, depression is simply the brain screaming that it's in an energy crisis? And what if that energy crisis could be resolved -- along with the depressive state -- by simply adding ketones to the brain's fuel with a change in diet? These stories are nothing short of miraculous. Why would anybody suffering from depression NOT try a ketogenic diet for 12 weeks to see if it helped? Serious question.

@The_StephenHall I love this portrait! There’s a little bit of Munch in it I agree. I wonder how the quiet courtroom copes with the incessant scratching of pastels?

@KleinfeldDavey @PatMcGorry @martinb1708 The “old codger” you are messaging is one of Australia’s preeminent mental health experts. You will “hopefully “ also be an old codger one day, I hope you are surrounded by respectful and kind people. Shame you don’t know the deep damage that word is to disabled people.
