Growing global adoption of electric vehicles helped avoid the consumption of 2.3 million barrels of oil per day last year. By 2030, avoided daily consumption could more than double to 5.25 million barrels. “Electric vehicles are increasingly cost-competitive with gasoline cars. Oil volatility means EVs are a common-sense choice for countries wishing to insulate themselves from future shocks.” Daan Walter, analyst at Ember.

@J_Bell25 @DriveTeslaca I agree but it’s extremely disappointing that Tesla chargers haven’t expanded rapidly in eastern Canada like they have elsewhere. As a Tesla owner and like many others; we called this area out as high priority in 2023, and we are still waiting.

@gerrymacisaac @DriveTeslaca There's been a lot of progress this year in NS with fast chargers. NS Power has been installing newer high powered chargers (180kw) around the province that's made a big difference. Irving Oil has done the same thing and continues to expand (Aulds Cove is planned)

@J_Bell25 @DriveTeslaca There’s obviously issues but Antigonish, Port Hastings, Port Hawkesbury can be options. Anything would be a help to the area. I driven across Canada twice and fast charging options become lame when you hit Nova Scotia.

@gerrymacisaac @DriveTeslaca Aulds Cove is likely not happening. Tesla was working with Irving and their Aulds Cove location would have been ideal. Unfortunately Irving is now installing their own chargers, so they're no longer partnered with Tesla.

China’s CO2 emissions have now been flat or falling for 18 months, starting in March 2024. This trend continued in the third quarter of 2025, when emissions were unchanged year-on-year. If this trend starts to move into sustained carbon emissions reduction it would be hugely significant.
