🇨🇺 A small ship carrying 14 tons of food, medicine, solar panels, and bicycles arrived in Havana Harbor on Tuesday as part of the Nuestra America Convoy, an effort by nearly 300 groups across more than 30 countries to bypass U.S. sanctions restricting fuel and goods to the island. 🔹The delivery, along with 6 additional tons flown in over the past week, was largely symbolic amid Cuba’s deepening economic crisis, worsened by Trump administration measures cutting off fuel supplies and threatening tariffs on countries exporting oil to the island. 🔹Separately, Costa Rica recently joined Ecuador in severing diplomatic ties with Cuba, adding pressure on a government that has long relied on its international partnerships. Mexico said today it will continue its Cuban doctors program despite U.S. pressure. 🔹Meanwhile, Reuters reported citing exclusive documents and shipping data that U.S. suppliers have shipped about 30,000 barrels of fuel to Cuba’s private sector so far this year. The exports are part of a policy that blocks fuel to the Cuban government while allowing limited deliveries to private businesses, with strict rules preventing resale or diversion, leaving state-run sectors like electricity, hospitals, and public transport under extreme strain. The volume is minimal compared to Cuba’s typical needs of around 100,000 barrels per day.
