idk who needs to hear this but you need to speak in the second person point of view in your ads. if you don't know, it's a narrative style that directly addresses the reader as the protagonist using "you" and "your." It places your audience directly inside your story and makes them part of it (so they can see themselves in it) rather than an outside observer where they think about anyone but themselves. GET PEOPLE THINKING ABOUT THEMSELVES

When I stopped posting SMB business brokerage deal flow because I moved to Europe to take a “normal job” in 2023… a fair number of people were like “wtf did you sell out?” or “guess the self-employment thing is a bunch of BS.” So… if and when we move back to the US, I expect a ton of people to be like “guess you couldn’t handle no A/C anymore” or “so much for Europe being a great place to live you sell out.” And if and when someday I might take another “normal job” despite it being interesting to me, potentially lucrative, and conducive to my personal views on daily discretion and autonomy… I expect people to be like “he couldn’t hack it.” You have to live life in chapters. Not everyone will like each one of them.

Rent e-bikes for kids, have a blast up and down the strand yesterday afternoon. Kids wake up at 6am, tip toe into our bedroom, fully dressed, helmets on, whispering “Dad, can we go for a bike a ride” 🥱 Okay

Finished reading “My Family and Other Animals” by Gerald Durrell. I don’t recall the last time I read a book that I simply described as “delightful” but this book is a delight. This book made me laugh several times. Durrell’s prose is wild and textured to give you a real feel of early 20th century Corfu. His characters are memorable and engaging. The richest part of the book that I appreciated most is how eloquently he captures the feeling of being a young boy: completely immersed in the world around you, peers to your animals, a student of nature, and fully present. Go read it!

@dmbkparker And the worst is when they’re eating a late PST lunch and you’re like “yeah I should have done that 3-4 hours ago..”
