@glim1000 @VladTheInflator Supposedly fuel additives like Stabil can help to cope with ethanol in the gas tank for a few months. But you're still better off getting ethanol-free if you own a PHEV.
English

Trump will lower quality fuel type with 15% ethanol (E15) vs the typical 10% in cars this summer.
Ethanol has roughly 33% less energy content than pure gasoline.
E15 thus delivers about 1.7–5% lower miles per gallon compared to standard E10 (10% ethanol)
Promoted per-gallon savings (often cited as 10–30 cents) DOES NOT fully offset this efficiency loss, leaving drivers effectively PAYING MORE to travel the same distance.
Ethanol is more corrosive and hygroscopic (absorbs water) than gasoline, which can degrade:
Rubber seals, hoses, gaskets, and plastic components over time.
Metal parts (rust/corrosion in fuel lines, tanks, and injectors).
Carburetors and fuel systems in older vehicles.
Diverting more corn to ethanol (already using a large share of the U.S. crop) reduces supply available for animal feed, livestock, and food products. This can raise costs for meat, dairy, eggs, and other groceries—effectively trading cheaper gas for more expensive food.

@fsinghera1 @GerberKawasaki He didn’t say he has 4 or kept trading in. I assumed he traded in when the next iteration was released.
English

@glim1000 @GerberKawasaki Multiply by 4... You have to get fsd per car

@AlexEdgerton Only 5 out of 15 are available in North America.
Now that Canada has allowed some in I wonder which ones we will get.

@Adam_Stirling Hormuz = 20m barrels/day (20% of global oil consumption)
400m released from strategic reserves by 32 nations only buys you 20 days of supply

@Adam_Stirling Gas price is being suppressed 30% by strategic reserves. Our fuel should be $2.80/liter.

English

The gas was $2.13 per litre when I stopped in on my way back from the studio today.
That's a new high considering there's no carbon tax.

“Ultra low power mode” = 3 days between charging?

NEW: Apple’s foldable iPhone is - as of now - on track for a September debut with the iPhone 18 Pro. While supply could be limited initially, it’s also on track to go on sale at the same time - or soon after - the Pro models. Nikkei report is off base. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@AlexEdgerton We use the “impact” harness. They now have a half priced “enhanced strength” version.

@AlexEdgerton Dog linesman’s harness takes 2 minutes to secure. Buy a safety rated climbing carabiner and leave it attached to the harness so it’s ready for any vehicle. Dog’s leash + harness + carabiner.

Do you guys use crates for dogs in the back of an SUV? Just went down a rabbit hole of dog safety.
At first I used a harness and clipped it to the seats in the rear cargo area, now I use nothing. Like children in the 60s, the dog just does whatever back there. The rear seats make a nice barrier if I brake hard. As long as I remember not to send it, works pretty well and is less hot for the dog. I have a cargo mat in case there's an accident of the biological variety, but so far it's just been lots of hair.
I've put dogs in the back of a pickup for decades, using a harness and a rope. The back of a Model Y is basically the Ritz-Carlton by comparison.
In the event of a crash, a properly rated, and securely strapped crate will keep the dog from flying around the cabin. Most people rarely bother with either aspect of that, essentially negating the benefits.
Here is a specially designed and very well strapped crate - look at the amount of deformation and forces involved. That is assuming the cargo area is not a crumple zone - which they frequently are, unless your SUV has a 3rd row option, like the Model Y.
One of the safest ways to transport your dog is to use a *rated* harness and strap it in the seat, like a person. I have yet to see anyone do that in real life, and there are lots of videos of cheap ones failing in spectacular ways.
I guess my point is, for a quick trip to the park, on placid 45 mph roads, is it really that bad of a decision to just put the dog back there? I say you are rolling the dice regardless. Using a cheap unstrapped crate is basically the same thing, only hotter.

🚨 BREAKING:
Canadian real estate has entered the "Burn it Down" phase. 🏚️
Lawyers are now advising underwater pre-con buyers that DEFAULTING is a viable exit.
When your $1.2M condo appraises at $800k, losing a $200k deposit and declaring bankruptcy is becoming a "rational" financial move. 📉
The bubble hasn't just popped; it’s a crater.

@smartroad78 You can. Go to tyre (UK) reviews website and use their selector guide. The issue is that Europe gets the newest models first. Cross climate 3, etc.

@ShaziGoalie A real estate agent saying he “probably maybe” would pass a pre construction condo on to his kids is laughable.

English

PRE-CON CONDO WIPEOUT IN TORONTO.
You’re not looking at a “market slowdown” anymore. You’re looking at people getting financially wiped out.
One buyer planned to pass this condo down to his kids one day. Now he’s walking away from his entire life savings.
Locked in at $800K.
Appraised at $650K.
Bank won’t cover the gap and just like that… the deal collapses.
Down payment? Gone.
Future for his family? Gone.
It’s happening daily. This is how a housing market breaks.
English

@ShaziGoalie Sounds like he used leverage in a very dangerous way.
Isn't a licensed professional supposed to warn him of the consequences of his gambling?
