Really enjoying @bls8tokyo2024 ! So great to see the diversity in everyone's work. But alas, time is running out so if I haven't met you yet, come say hi! I'm easy to find & if you can't see me you can probably hear me 🙃 Will happily chat away about Tuna (or Taylor Swift)!

Huge congrats to @TCDZoology - the discipline has received the highest rating of Green in the @My_Green_Lab programme. Efforts led by PhD Emma King saw all research teams adapting more sustainable practices. (1/2)

Congratulations to my wonderful friend and colleague on her tenacity and hard work to get this incredible piece of research out into the world!
Basking sharks are regionally endothermic after all 🔥
Dr Haley Dolton (she/her)@haleydolton
🎵🚨 Well, I’m hot blooded, check it and see…🎵🚨 Despite always been known as being cold blooded, basking sharks are actually regionally endothermic like their close relatives great whites! 🔥🦈🔥 Check out my second PhD chapter here: doi.org/10.3354/esr012…

@VerhelstPJ Thanks for the advice! I'll give it a go. Yes GAMMs seem to be a bit of a minefield - but hopefully I'm now making some progress!
English

@gmcnicho Did you check the bam() function in the mgcv package? This function is designed to calculate GAMMs on large datasets. Also, I tried GAMMs a few times, but each time I came back to GLMMs, which are much easier to interpret.

@gmcnicho Get in touch with @DH_Freedive ! Or, see if you can get help from the excellent @FisheriesRobert
