Nearly 100 experts met for the 34th ITER Council on June 19-20, 2024. They discussed optimizing schedules, minimizing delays, and lowering risks. The new baseline aims for D-D fusion by 2035. Join DG Barabaschi’s press conference on July 3 at 10:30 a.m. CET. #ITER #FusionEnergy

@suka_hiroaki Gibelkreuz Konto mit deutschem PayPal Konto (DE Mail Adresse) verknüpft. Dann funktioniert Google Pay via PayPal.

I was allowed to talk about fusion again :-) erklärmir.at/2023/08/01/265… It's in "german" but @a_sator made me feel so welcome that I mostly spoke in Waldviertlerisch. I apologize to all non-Austrians for that. I hope it's still enjoyable ;-) I had a great time. Video links to come..

@formbar Tripple Product or max achieved Ti would be nice but for sure harder to get. Maybe also classical VS modular coils.

@gmeni Was also thinking about other ways to put all those Stellarators into one plot, e.g. taking into account heating power (varies during operation time), l or m values (not too informative), triple product (not that easy to get all the data and in principle already existing)

If stellarators are your thing, you might be interested to hear that ~60 stellarators have been operated or are currently in operation around the world. You might also like this plot, showing their magnetic field strength and major radius (symbol size indicative of minor radius)

@HenrM_Cruz Raw data comparison suggests not really👇 Although there is a notable regional shift from builds in Europe/US to Asia which may hide some of this effect.

How long does it take to build a nuclear reactor? Built this chart with global data 👇 Median time = 6.3 years Mean = 7.5 years 21% less than 5 years. 68% less than 8 years. 83% less than 10 years. But a long tail – some reactors took decades to finish.

@samuelhward Nay, better to choose the time and journal freely. But some people just need to have the deadline knocking on their shoulders to actually produce a manuscript. Maybe there should be a diagnosis for this? :)

Rolling plasma. On a more serious note: there are magnets moving under the surface, in their magnetic field the plasma is created by microwaves (electrons gyrate in the field with the same frequency as the microwave is oscillating).

Energie? Jaja, verstanden. IN 10 JAHREN KOMMT EIN KRAFTWERK ANS NETZ!
