The most eye opening realization is that the first societies to stop using slaves were the industrialized nations. It is not a coincidence that slavery melted away when we began leveraging machines to make our lives easier. Machines run 24/7, never sleep, don’t try to run away, revolt, complain, or cost much to fuel compared to a group of humans not to mention do things that a human could never even be capable of. The selfish business man and work obsessed entrepreneur changed the world for the better, more than any civil group could ever achieve.
