@LuftkoppTim not really. just that the phone itself isn’t attractive enough for people to make the tradeoff. if next year the Pros with eSim only for larger battery launch in China it will do well.

recently in china amd am5 users have been discussing running ddr5 at just 4200~4400mhz under fgr mode, just to keep fclk, mclk and uclk all at 2100/2200, aka full sync 1:1:1. some game benchmarks showed that 4400c22~c24 was faster than 6000c30 or even c28/c26. additonally 4400 requires significantly lower vsoc/vddio/vddp。 now some amd fan boys in china are calling the practice of running ddr5 4400 on am5 a "cult". bilibili amd d5 4400 tests search.bilibili.com/all?keyword=am… bilibili ho_hao bilibili.com/video/BV1dE9QB… ============================== the leaflet translated by google Sternly oppose and resolutely criticize The reactionary APRO elements are spreading the evil trend of AMD CPUs running at DDR5 4400! "Exposing the counter-revolutionary face of reactionary APRO elements!" They promote the idea that "DDR5 4400 is sufficient," infecting the masses and poisoning the minds of newcomers! They tout "dessert frequency" and "best value for money," but in reality, they are just making excuses for their ignorance and laziness! They take the results of a few individuals with poor physical condition or low skill level as "universal truths" and mislead others everywhere! They worship authority, copy blindly, dare not step out of line, and willingly become stumbling blocks to technological progress! They are attempting to "legitimize," "rationalize," and "normalize" conservatism, backwardness, and inefficiency! Their intentions are despicable! Their actions are shameful! Heavy warning! If this unhealthy trend is allowed to spread, it will lead to limited user performance and a degraded user experience! This will cause manufacturers to stagnate and innovation to stop! This will lead to a decline in industry competitiveness, making us vulnerable to attack and defeat! We must hold high the red banner of technological progress and thoroughly criticize and fight against all reactionary remarks and actions! Five major crimes of reactionary APRO elements Charge 1: Incompetent, ignorant, and fearless! They don't even understand the relationship between memory frequency, FCLK, UCLK, and MCLK, yet they dare to spout nonsense and mislead others! Second charge: Obstructing progress and harming the industry! Their conservative rhetoric has caused countless users to hesitate, miss out on performance, waste money, and hinder the entire industry's progress! Third charge: Idealism, detached from reality! Without exploration or practice, drawing conclusions based solely on subjective assumptions and isolated phenomena constitutes a form of idealism! Fourth charge: Selfishness and greed blinding them to reason! For the sake of traffic and profit, they deliberately peddle anxiety, create cognitive barriers, and thrive on chaos! Charge Five: Undermining unity and creating division! Forming cliques, attacking dissent, suppressing technical discussions, creating a foul environment, and damaging the community ecosystem! We solemnly request: ★ All platforms, communities, and media must immediately cease spreading reactionary statements such as "DDR5 4400 is sufficient"! ★ All APRO members must immediately issue a public self-criticism, stop misleading the public, and return to the correct path of technological exploration! ★ Users, open your eyes, be bold in practice, actively explore higher frequencies, and unlock the potential of your platforms! ★ Industry colleagues, unite as one, dispel superstitions, and jointly promote the advancement of memory technology and platform performance! Breaking superstitions, pursuing truth, exploring limits, and striving for excellence "Down with the reactionary APRO elements!" Criticize it! Criticize it! Criticize it again! Struggle! Struggle! Struggle again! let their reactionary remarks in the fire of criticism Turn into ashes! Holding high the banner of technological revolution, we thoroughly criticize the reactionary fallacies of DDR5 4400! Let Polyplastics' AMD platform strive for ultimate performance to drive great progress in the industry! Technological advancement and seeking truth from facts Cheng Shuxiang is pragmatic and realistic. Recognize the true nature of the DDR5 4400 hype! The essence is conservatism, backwardness, and clinging to old ways! Essentially, it's about avoiding challenges and limiting oneself! It is essentially hostility and fear towards advanced technology! This is essentially a disregard for and betrayal of the interests of the vast majority of users! Technology knows no bounds, and performance will always move forward! Higher frequency, lower latency, and stronger performance are the right path! DDR5 6000, 6200, 6400... that's what AMD platforms should be aiming for! Unleash performance! Unleash potential! Drive the industry! Benefit users! DDR5 4400 is enough. sufficient theory Dessert frequency best value for money most people Poor physique conservative APRO molecule

@lafaiel to get significant increase in GPU performance you have to scale up memory and cache as well, which take up a lot of die space. while CPU is less reliant on bandwidth. i agree it’s retarded decision tho.

@CryptoCyberia that’s a fake ass benchmark achieved by letting the laptop sitting idle with a screen running at 1hz at low brightness and do absolutely nothing. the chip don’t play much role here.

@harukaze5719 most people don’t care about upgrade in at least 5 years when they get a PC, and very few have a gpu faster than 5080 for ARL to running into bottleneck vs non-x3d. Intel DIY mindshare is completely cooked for letting these discourse even happen.

I think this is a big punch for AMD in the mainstream lineup. In Korea, CPU choices based on price range were practically fixed: 5600 / 7500F / 9600X or 14600K / 78X3D, 98X3D / 995X3D There is almost no choice in selecting LGA1700 non-K or U5 225. I think they have precisely targeted the price segment that used to choose the 9600X or 14600K. Of course, given the recent unfavorable exchange rate market in Korea, consumer decisions could change after launch, but the start is promising. However, there are still points that make me hesitate regarding Intel. The first is the high price of DRAM and SSDs, which is a common issue for AMD as well. The second is that the lifespan of the LGA1851 socket has effectively ended, and the next generation appears to be LGA1954. While the strategy may change with LGA1954, AMD still holds an advantage in terms of socket lifespan, just as AM4 did. How do you or your area rate ARL Refresh?

A Korean reviewer posted Exynos 2600 test results. Genshin: decent performance Star Rail: even worse than 8 Elite Gen 1. In Mabinogi Mobile, which has the highest settings, 8 Elite 5 was 30% faster and the A19 Pro was 40% faster. It was about 14% faster than 8 Elite, but power draw was 60% higher.

@LuftkoppTim so far all the “Macbook Neo bad” arguments are just either comparing them to deeply discounted Windows options or to…discounted Macbook Air. Apple legit did it man there is no competition.

@LuftkoppTim M4 probably has the most binned skus so far out of any chip Apple ever made: 4+4+8, 4+6+8, 4+6+10, 3+6+10, 3+5+9. they really just take every scrap it gets out of it.

It's kinda fascinating that we got 2 "new" chips with today's releases. The A19 in the 17e only has 4 GPU cores The M4 in the iPad Air only has 3 P-cores AND 5 E-cores Seems like Apple is using more binned chips again

IPS Display at < 500 nits No backlit keyboard No fast charging These three compromises have drastically reduced my expectations for the new MacBook $699 is the most mentioned starting price. If true, it’ll only have the chip going for it and everything else far behind the competition.

Exynos 2600 is Samsung’s next-generation flagship SoC built on a 2nm GAA process and has already entered mass production. It is expected to power the Galaxy S26 and S26+, with a clear focus on energy efficiency, sustained performance, and on-device AI rather than peak benchmark scores. The 2nm GAA process provides improved leakage control and power efficiency, which is especially important for the Galaxy S26 series given the physical constraints of slim, bar-type smartphones. This lays a more stable foundation for prolonged high-load scenarios. On the CPU side, Exynos 2600 features a 10-core design based on Arm v9.3. By shifting toward a higher proportion of efficient mid-performance cores, the chip reduces reliance on extreme high-power states. Samsung claims up to a 39% CPU performance increase alongside improved efficiency, benefiting long-term system smoothness and multitasking on the Galaxy S26 series. Graphics are handled by the new Xclipse 960 GPU, delivering roughly 2× the compute performance of its predecessor and up to a 50% improvement in hardware ray tracing. The introduction of ENSS (AI-based upscaling and frame generation) further enhances sustained gaming performance, which aligns well with the thermal limits of the Galaxy S26 and S26+ form factor. For AI workloads, Exynos 2600 integrates a 32K MAC NPU, with generative AI performance reportedly improved by 113%. This enables more advanced on-device Galaxy AI features on the S26 series, while reducing latency, power consumption, and cloud dependency. In imaging, the SoC combines AI-driven ISP technologies such as VPS and DVNR, improving image and video quality while significantly reducing power consumption—leaving more headroom for advanced camera algorithms on Galaxy S26 devices. Regarding video capabilities, official specifications confirm support for HEVC, AV1, and APV codecs. This indicates that Galaxy S26 and S26+ models equipped with Exynos 2600 have hardware-level APV encode/decode capability, with final user-facing support dependent on software implementation. Overall, Exynos 2600 serves as a platform-oriented chip for the Galaxy S26 series, prioritizing efficiency, stability, and long-term scalability for AI and imaging features.
