Runaway capital in India and globally for surfing and paddle-boarding. - complete waterfront beautification and waterfront trails and tracks across the city’s 270 degree waterfront. Fishing points. Hawker zones. Cycling and running trails. Skate parks. Amphitheatres. - plan a 30 year integrated development plan that brings mangalore and Udupi into a single metropolitan zone. Identify transit corridors early. - launch an on road metro with a fleet of small electric buses and controlled time tables. Digital travel payment mechanism. - add a suburban high speed train between mangalore and Udupi with stops in suratkal, Mulki, Padubidri,kaup, katpady. - improve and complete the upgrade of Mangalore-Moodubidri-Karkala-Udupi as an eastern development corridor. Moodubidri - Karkala are serving of world heritage status with their jain influence and monuments. - initiate a tourism train and tourism buses along the coast from Mangalore to Goa. - separate Mangalore as a railway division in charge of its own future. Add relevant parts of SER, KR and SR to the division. - designate differential FAR/FSI in the inner cities versus new open suburbs to push development away from the centre along high speed transit corridors. - make mangalore a University/Skilling hub for ship building, tourism and agri products and fish products. - redevelop Pilikula development authority like a choki Dhani or Dilli haat as a Tulunadu experience centre. - mandate a deputy CM position for western karnataka - recognized Tulu as a unique heritage language and make efforts to preserve the distinct culture and language. - Build the brand of Karavali Tourism Tulunadu tourism as a separate sub brand within Karnataka. - designate seaplane landing zones along the north west and south river fronts of the city. Along key attractions on the coast. - Develop a major leisure marina in Mangalore and anchor it with high speed boats to Lakshadweep. - Give greater tourism infrastructure and experience to the Kudremukh wildlife zone. It’s a forest that needs to be both experienced and preserved side by side. - energy freight corridor via railways to mangalore to take pressure off the roads. - designate silicon beach as a special economic region for 4-6 specific disciplines. Give it an ecosystem in these areas for full product and solutions lifecycle. - rejuvenate inner cities by completing road widening, managing garbage, banning plastics, evicting encroachments, recovering roads from bad parking habits, underground power cables, working PNG and designated one way system of narrow parallel roads and pedestrian only areas with central parking in such areas. Most of these initiatives will pay for themselves as they also unlock private investment. Governments only need to masterplan and seed the templates. We need a 30 year roadmap for the three districts.
