They want to be able to control the landlord even though they don’t live in his building.

You could have a society where everyone lives in public housing but you would still “have a landlord,” it would just be some kind of public agency.

@andrew_rogers @Empty_America Avocado toast is a cheap and nutritious dinner. Piece of bread, mashed avocado, 2 eggs is not some insane luxurious dinner. And no food is wasted. I am not even sure it would cost much more than hotdogs and mac&cheese.

Thinking about how absolutely vile many of you have been to Lindsey Graham during his life—and will continue to be in his death. Few realize he became an orphan and raised his young sister while he was in college—the first of his family to earn higher education. He was a good, brilliant, self-deprecating man with consistent principles who leaves a legacy of tirelessly working for the people of South Carolina. Praying for Darline—the sister he raised—and all who loved him.

Senator Graham. A relentless presence in American politics who threw himself into his work. At the center of the action for decades, be it diplomacy or Senate deals. A confidant to the president. A man who had his fans and critics but exuded joy about being in the arena. RIP.

@JonahDispatch What? You have a problem with Communism? Socialism is a stage that eventually gets us to Communism. That's the point. Capitalism must be overthrown for the sake of humanity.

One can go too far with guilt-by-association arguments, but the simple fact is that they are literally associated with these groups. They may not be members of these groups, they may even privately oppose them or work to minimize their influence within the party. But they are still part of an organization that does not reject them. Maoists and Communists are in their tent. If a Republican candidate was a member of some broad front that had openly Nazi and Fascist organizations committed to overthrowing the Constitution within it, I don't think we would hear a lot of "well, ackshully conservatism and fascism are very different things" the way we hear "well, ackshully, democratic socialism and communism have nothing to do with each other." And, for the record, I am appalled by Republicans -- led by Trump and Vance-- who want racists and Nazi simps to have a place inside their "big tent." But I see no reason why liberals shouldn't be appalled by the DSA's similar attitude toward Stalinists, Maoists, and supporters of terrorism. Okay I'm done. 13/13
