Stephen A. Smith apologizes to Kyrie Irving for calling him ‘stupid’ when he skipped Nets home games instead of getting COVID-19 vaccine: “In my opinion, particularly hindsight-wise, it didn’t make him stubborn or selfish; it made him brave… Kyrie Irving did nobody wrong. We did him wrong. I did him wrong. And for that, I’m sincerely sorry.” (h/t @awfulannouncing)

I’m not impressed with these hearings where Republicans traipse some corrupt scumbag out and yell at him for three hours. Yeah, he’s a corrupt scumbag. I agree. So why isn’t he under arrest? Why isn’t he facing any real consequences? Why aren’t you actually doing anything?

In the US, liberals think conservatives hate them much more than conservatives actually do, while conservatives don't realize liberals hate them as much as liberals actually do. The hatred asymmetry is one reason liberals tend to win over time.

Take note, sir: Suicidal empathy was literally the sin of Judas. Think of what that money could have done for the poor, says the man who turns Christ over to the Roman authorities, and later hung himself in despair. He makes the statement when Lazarus's sister Mary annoints the feet of Jesus with a costly perfume. The wisdom in making a misapplied, deceitful and narcissistic empathic altruism the sin of the betrayer of Christ Himself is breathtaking. It's another example (along with bottomless depths of the story of Cain and Abel and the brazen serpent who is also Jesus) of the truly incomprehensible literary genius of the Biblical canon.
