"I think if you were to ask somebody when you die and you get to heaven, you're going to be confronted with the question Jesus or Saint Peter's going to ask you, "Why should we let you into heaven?" And I think most people would start listing good things they've done or bad things that they restrain themselves from, but there's only one legitimate answer. If when you're asked why should you be allowed into heaven, there's only one correct answer: "The blood of Jesus. I can't merit heaven. I did nothing to give myself life. I did nothing to give myself the strengths and qualities and opportunities that I've been given. I did nothing. I'm on a rock that's spinning 10s of 1000s of miles per hour in an empty void around a thing called the sun. I'm in control of nothing." But if we live with Jesus, united to His mission, and allow that blood to fill us and guide us, it changes everything. It might even help you see yourself the way God sees you, and if you could see yourself the way God sees you, it would change everything." Fr. "The culture says, "Hook up. Drink up. Light up. Smoke it. Do whatever you need to do in order to feel good about yourself." But it is an insidious lie, because in the end, it feels that we can never accomplish what we're striving for, and we become hopeless. We're achieving what we can never achieve, never feeling that we're good enough, always feeling inadequate according to the standards of the world. Our worth isn't built on accomplishments or external appearances, or anything else that the world has to offer, because all of these things pass away. Our worth is rooted in our identity as children of God. Friday night we sang that song with those powerful words: "In my father's house, there is a place for me. I'm a child of God. Yes, I am." It expresses our deepest worth as flowing from Christ. We are chosen, not forsaken. We are who you say we are. We are worthy." Bishop Edward M. @JesusSavesUs777 @TMMMcB Our pastor did a great homily this Sunday about how Jesus gave praise and thanks to His Father after a period of being rejected in towns where He preached the Kingdom. It’s our example to praise and give thanks to God in all circumstances. Team USA knows. 🙏🇺🇸

Team USA prayed after the loss to Belgium. Praying is not about winning. It's about your relationship with God.

“A lot of times people ask me, ‘Father Edwin, isn’t the Church just outdated in its teaching of marriage and sexuality? Shouldn’t it just get with the times?’ And I would say no. God’s teaching—as He says today—is that the heavens and the earth will pass away before even the smallest measure of His teaching will pass away. He is God. He created you and me. He wrote the owner’s manual. He knows where we flourish... Now, imagine if I take that fire from my fire pit, where it has proper boundaries and dimensions. Imagine if I take that fire and I put it inside on my couch. Why would I do that? That’s a great question. I—why would I do that? It could, it could still give me light. It would still roast a marshmallow. It would still cook a hot dog. It would still boil water. It would keep me warm. But, but outside of the proper boundaries, it becomes destructive. It destroys rather than lifts up. So, there’s a lot of the same properties, but it becomes something that ruins rather than restores and creates. And that’s the same thing with marriage, with the sexual union. It is powerful and important, and that is why it has to have boundaries and directionality and purpose. And we don’t go for those boundaries and that purpose—we don’t go to the culture; we go to the Creator. And He says that marriage is between a male and a female, that it has to be free, it’s faithful for as long as they both shall live, and it needs to be fruitful. These are the qualities of marriage and the marital act.” Fr. “And it is our task to remain faithful, even and especially amidst the difficulties of the present life of the Church. It is the Church that saves us, not we who save the Church." Fr. Christopher Smith Prince of Peace Catholic Church Diocese of Charleston - @DioceseChas

Catholic priests preparing your homily for Sunday: As you begin to pray about the readings and look for a way in, we put together a few concrete examples to help make the Gospel land. We hope you find it helpful. Please share with some of your favorite priests.

The Church needs preaching that is clear, faithful, and alive with the Gospel. Preaching rooted in Scripture, moved by mercy, and ordered toward mission. We posted a few homily ideas in that spirit for this coming Sunday’s Gospel: Matthew 9:36–10:8. greatcatholicpreaching.com/blog/2026/6/7/…
