Retired Canadian Foreign Service. Happy resident of Ottawa Vanier. These days, doing more local than global. RTs do not necessarily signal endorsement.

@CWhitzman How does it compare to Ottawa Neighbourhood Study determination of core housing need in Ottawa's neighbourhoods?

@ONS_SQO After years-long @ACVanierCA pressing kudos to ONS for discovering StatsCAN 2021 3 census tracts for #Vanier instead of dividing former City to combine some of its parts with other hoods to suit its data formation. Combining Vanier data wld help Vanier research @PlanteSteph613

@VanierDe @1Canoe2Paddles VCA proposal to City for some years now is to reduce # lanes to 3 like Mtl Rd east of Pkwy for traffic calming &matching bike lane EB to already existing WB & connecting to new bike track at N River. Inexpensive albeit short term solution. City response: use Adawe bridge.

@1Canoe2Paddles Currently we have 2 lanes for cars in both directions. Like you, I think removing some of the car lanes won't have a neg. impact on traffic flow for cars. 1 lane each direction for cars, separated bike lanes on both sides & a "flexible" lane in the middle (W in a.m., E in p.m.).

Cummings bridge is a hostile environment for pedestrians and cyclists and has often glass, debris and potholes in the bike lane that force you into the car lane. Drivers think they can pass you within inches of the painted bike lane. Surprised nothing has happened to me yet
Pat@UrbanistPat

Small curb tight sidewalks, 50kph+ speeds, and new high density development at the end of the bridge. Scary experience to walk or bike despite being a vital link. Hope @ottawacity can redesign this bridge before more fatalities/injuries. #ottwalk #ottbike @PlanteSteph613

Firefighters successfully rescued/resuscitated a dog & a cat from a condo unit that had a kitchen 🔥 in the 200 block of Greensway Ave in Vanier. We responded at approx 17:13 & the first crew arrived in 3 min & found the kitchen on🔥 in a ground flr unit & it had extended to the cupboards. Fire crews had the 🔥 under control at 17:22, 5 min after arriving & prevented it from spreading to any other units. The residents were not home at the time of the fire. #OttNews 📸 @OFSFirePhoto

Alice looks way friendlier and more beautiful after it was closed for the École Trille de Bois' fête de quartier. Alice should be turned into a safe school street during the entire school year, not just on one day at the end of the year (preferably without any police presence).
